Congrats for having found this out and thanks for sharing it.
Phonem is extremely powerful, I never doubted that, and now I have a better foundation to start from.
Looking forward to the next part, and also to your PhonemKlature which will be a joy to dissect and play with.
My pleasure, Erik - I had to learn all of that the hard way, but I had enough time to do so back in December :)
Once those logistic stones have been moved out of the way the road is free to explore and enjoy the Phonem world.

Seriously, must say thanks for sharing that, represent lot of work!

This was on my possible purchase list till I see they have a no refund policy and theres no demo version.

As promised, here comes a first basic video tutorial which covers all sorts of things from setting up Phonem to make your own patches to basic editing of utterances to modulation matrix-stuff. What I forgot to mention is, that is is useful to make an Init-template-patch yourself, if you want to avoid the notorious "Hello World"-patch which gets created on initializing Phonem. Then you can store your own Init patch in one of your Banks and recall it whenever you need a fresh Phonem.

Hello, I have questions regarding WaveGenerator, Wavemapper and Phonem.

I asked about this in the post started by Galbanum about synth compatibility with their Waveforms.

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&t=453360

I'm thinking I should ask here as well.

1. Can each synth load: Galbanum Architecture Waveforms 2010 Wavetable Format?

Tech specs are:

2048 samples per waveform
32-bit floating point
256 max waveforms per wavetable

Sample Rate header is set at 44.1K

2. What is the maximum bit depth of the sound sources that can be loaded by each synth? e.i.
24 bit, 32 bit, 64 bit etc.

3. Do all user sounds for Phonem have to be loaded into WaveGenerator or Wavemapper first and then exported in TCS format or wts. format, in order for Phonem to read them? Or can Phonem just load waves and wavetables natively?

4. Simon in the next Phonem tutorial can you walk through the process of exporting one of the TCS sounds in Wavemapper to Phonem?

Thanks.

With Phonem you can import wave-resources from WaveGenerator and WaveMapper 2.
To load audio waveforms, it would need an analyser, like in WaveMapper 2 which transforms the wave into harmonics for the TCS (time-corrected-samples) and or wavetables.

this is not included in Phonem.

if you want to import other waveforms from other products it would need a format-converter.
which is a different thing.
(there are other threads here on KVR which discuss comversion of wavetables etc.)

Regarding the analyser in WaveMapper 2: (from our WM2 FAQ page)
The analyzer is build to work with "real world" sounds, like sounds from acoustic or electro-acoustic instruments, vocals or voices.
If you give the analyzer a synthetic audio file or a wavetable from another synth, please note the following points:
The periode length should be below 1000 samples. There should be at least 50 periodes in the sample. If you try a file with just one periode of 2048 samples length, that will not work.
If your periodes are too long, please use a sample converter to bring it down to an acceptable length.

Yep, that's just absolutely beautiful.

Have you checked out Galbanum Architecture Waveforms 2010

http://www.galbanum.com/products/archit ... eforms2010

They just released a wavetable version described here:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&t=453360

Tech specs are:

2048 samples per waveform
32-bit floating point
256 max waveforms per wavetable

Mr. Wgp has said that I have to get the samples per waveform down to 1000 to load them into WaveGenerator then from there I can get them into Phonem.

Question: Do you know of a program I could use to convert the waveforms from 2048 samples to 1000 samples?

I could google it but I'd rather take ask you. Thanks.

Thank's - I'm the wrong person to ask, as I only use my own waveforms and wavetables, so I never checked the Galbanum stuff. I convert all my assets for Phonem with Wavemapper or create tables inside Phonem. Besides that I use Serum as my main WT-editor for e.g. creating and exporting tables into Falcon.

To add to this: any audio editor like iZotope's RX or Steinbergs Wave Lab will let you shorten and edit waveforms in numerous ways.

In case someone is interested in some fresh Phonem sounds, I just released my first soundset for Phonem, Phonemklatura. Check it out here.
