Admin already moved the double... Great you like it, thanksErikH wrote:Double posting? I see none. But I did listen twice.
I like this a lot. The sounds are great and the general atmosphere reminds me Spring is coming.
Thanks for posting!

a 7 day demo ....
better choose wisely when you decide to demo, as time is extremely limited.
for amateurs/hobbyists who have work commitments during the week, and perhaps family ...a 7 day demo effectively amounts to a single weekend demo, if you're lucky.
I'm not sure what a 7 day restriction is supposed to achieve vs, say, a typical 30 day demo.
Can't be cracker concerns since a 7 day demo is as good as a 30 day demo, in terms of exploits.
So...sales concerns ? 7 days of demoing will illicit more sales than 30 ?
also, seeing as much of the negative userfeedback, and buyer's remorse, has been attributable to preset saving etc ... it seems a bit, perhaps, calculated ? not allowing the user to use this feature in the demo.
it's not uncommon in demos, but if the preset management is a frequent source of complaint from existing owners ... I would say that it is perhaps more ethical to choose the more common type of typical demo scheme that allows preset saving. ymmv.

i have bought Phonem 2 weeks ago , i don't regret it, all the preset saving is easy now, with the last update, i never think about it, it's like other synth/sampler, the new free soundbank is really good: smk - Phonem II and it's a free one !
i have download the wavemapper2 demo, but it's not my cup of tea, great synth, but not for me, but phonem is another story, the learning step is not so hard, and it's a reel innovative synth !

I am not a collectioner of gear. I only buy when a synth can produce sounds that I really like and that adds something to what I already have. I do not need a demo version for this. Phonem is such a synth. The sound it produces and the name Wolfgang Palm are sufficient guarantee for me to buy.
The problems I had with saving were based on a misunderstanding of mine. When Simon made it clear to look at it more like a sampler than a 'normal' synth, the extra layer of have-to-save became obvious. In fact: most of my problems came/come from the fact that every company has a specific approach, interface, organisation etc. Add to this that I am neither the seasoned pro (whatever that may mean) nor the quickest of learners (lots of other things to do) and it must be clear that it took me a longer while to find the key that opens Phonem's door. And yes: the manual is not structured the way I like it. I is written by someone who knows very well how it all functions but who takes a lot of needed knowledge for granted. Not many manuals are really good (Linplug's are, just to name one) so even here, Phonem is not the exception to the rule. And as many people have no problems with the manual at all, it may well be me. Once again.
So I am absolutely not the one who is pointed at with the ' negative userfeedback, and buyer's remorse'. I have no remorse, and would certainly buy again because of the fabulous sound. Learning curve? Well, if you want to learn German, you'll have to wade through the 'aus, bei, mit, nach, zeit, von, zu' phase. That's inevitable. If you want to learn Phonem, depending on your personal approach, you'll have a knack for it or you'll have to invest some more time than others.
++++++++
Thanks Mark for that free soundbank. I installed it and it contains a lot of nice and inspiring sounds and also a lot of learning stuff!

I just made another tutorial for Phonem, focussing on the Track-modulators to modulate pitch and other things in the modulation matrix.

Thanks!
Very interesting and indeed, it sounds human sometimes. But let's agree that it always sounds good.
Setting the pitch is perhaps a bit difficult but if it is not correct, an audio file of it can always be adjusted with VariAudio or Melodyne.
Must say that entire c5 circus is a bit cumbersome, especially when you first had to reset it on the first page and then once more on the track itself.
But as the proverb goes: all roads lead to Rome, but none seem to be, ahum, straight.
Anyway: this helps a lot. I loved the doubling!
As I have decided to get a Keith McMillen QuNexus (pressure-sensitive keys, polyphonic pitchbend and aftertouch) this month, I foresee a lot of fun.

I just got taught by Wolfgang that there is indeed a semitone scaling for the track points by simply moving the individual track points with the scroll wheel instead of using the mouse pointer, so the part of my tutorial where I talk about the lack of semitone scaling is simply wrong.Sampleconstruct wrote:I just made another tutorial for Phonem, focussing on the Track-modulators to modulate pitch and other things in the modulation matrix.

Here is another tutorial on the topic of creating tempo-synced utterance-chains, with utterance position modulated by a tempo-synced LFO and other tempo-synced LFOs to modulate pan position and formants. While doing this, I noticed that the concept of scaling the track modulator to semitones by using the scroll wheel is kind of clumsy, often all the points get moved at once, I guess it needs more time to edit and maybe a bit of mouse practice on my side, or it´s simply clumsy
