Just wondering if it still gets love from AAS with updates, Lounge Lizard just got a nice update so I was wondering. It seems overdue for Tassman.

I spoke to someone at AAS a few months ago and he said that they're working on Tassman 5 and to expect a release of sometime in 2016.

I'd love that. The Tassman was one of my first VSTs, back in the days when it wolfed down CPU cycles like M&Ms. It's improved since then, and so have processors. Those organic, often surprising sounds are still among my favorites. Here's hoping T5 is in the works!

Oh. Well, good!

every time i've asked them over the last couple years they say they have no idea when tassman5 will come out. nice to know they're at least using "sometime in 2016" now.

I think it is still a great product and I have used it in a recent project. There are aspects that need improving (especially the GUI, but that is secondary always to sound for me) but overall it is worth having. Hoping for a V5 this coming year.

What does Tassman bring that MUX, Reaktor, Modular V aint already got ?

Especially Reaktor with v6, all new blocks, price dropped, a though one to match

The sensous appeal of Tassman's sound defies rational explanation-- its the je ne sai quoi of a Quebecois synth.....

Specialised modules for physical modelling.

e.g. you can have a pluck exciter, string resonator, VCO and FM in one synth. The resulting sound is distinctive and often quite nice but the knob text is microscopic, hence the anticipation for an update.

Fully agreed. But also those modules need more user adjustable settings and modulation.

Well, I can't really comment on Tassman 4. I downloaded the demo a long time ago and, for starters, couldn't make heads or tails of that undersized GUI given how much stuff they've crammed into it. Sound wise, I did very little as far as playing around with it because the GUI just made it impossible to work with. I do remember a big problem with the filters but not exactly what it was.

For me to even consider getting Tassman 5, it would have to be a major overhaul over 4. In the meantime, I am very happy with my other Modulars

and sending parameter values to the host for easier automation. Its outdated in many ways but still loved for its unique 'character' like an old car. The manual is written in a conversational style with lots of pictures, so can be a good place to start.

I just picked this up with the half price Thanksgiving 2016 sale. Don't miss these extra patches, instruments, subpatches and FX patches, including some by Harm Visser. https://www.applied-acoustics.com/tassman/extras/

Regular price listed is $349, so the sale price at $89 is not half price, but 75% off

I'm still waiting for Tassman 5 and a GUI that doesn't make me want to rip my eyes out of their sockets.
