I just bought Crusher-X 6, it's pretty awesome. Might be worth a try to see if the beta works for you.

Zero problems here in multiple DAWs.
I can't say about Cubase though.

Crusher -X continues to evolve nicely. The move to Plugin format only, was what I was waiting for to pull the trigger on it.

Not exactly cheap though. Not too bad IMHO. Currently on sale as well.

Not sure of mentioned yet, but Slifty was a really promising little granular FSU-er with in-built sequencers and FX that always produces brilliant - if totally weird - results. 32bit only, be prepared for bugs and plenty of WTF situations, but also moments of pure bliss.

You should be able to find a download somewhere.

Sonic Lab Cosmos ƒ deserves a mention IMO. It's hard to wrap your head around at first but can do some pretty amazing sounds or just explore what happens as you change the various randomization functions and parameters. The latest two versions have been rock solid for me and added some very cool features (like the ring mod 'sieve').

Especially interesting if you're into fractals and chaos. Very CPU heavy and needs the buffer maxed out.

Unfortunately it doesn't let you import samples and play them via Midi but it's pretty versatile plug for post-mangling.
Another great little granular plug that hasn't been mentioned in this thread (?!) is the free Poly GAS. Doesn't have nearly as much tweaking options as some of the commercial granulators but comes with some great presets, nice randomization options, a ton of charme and sounds terrific.
