Congrats to the top 5. I think all my 5 pointers made it in but I'll have to double check.
I'll be seeing you guys again in like August or September when I return from a big 70s prog rock project I'm working on that's taking all my time.
Until then, enjoy!

+1 - I agree. Taron makes good points as usual.wagtunes wrote:Very well said. Can't argue with any of it.Taron wrote:I somehow think that most musicians here are mature enough not to feel disadvantaged because of paid FX. But the thing is, we all decide for different paths and end up having very different sets of tools, which just makes the whole challenge too convoluted, if you asked me. To allow only the use of free tools not only promotes the free tools, brings them to everybody's attention (about which I'm super happy and grateful), but also creates the possibility of a well balanced challenge, bringing the focus closer to music and understanding, rather than battling with technologies for which hardly any one of the "contestants" is responsible, other than choice.
So...on two very important dimensions I find the choice to only permit free FX a very wise one. It also actually encourages developers or would-be-developers to begin this kind of a journey and get more recognition, validating their passion.
I've chosen to just stick with free effects, because I simply overlooked the pro option, hahahaha, but then just figured it feels nicer to ignore it. I have Valhalla reverbs around, which are really soooo juicy, smooth and pretty, as well as some impulse reverbs, which are hard to rival in quality, but somewhere between Sanford, Ambience and Orilriver, besides my very own modular concoctions, I'm quite satisfied with the free reverb choices. They illustrate the setting for the stage quite well, even if not super hifi, so to say.
Oh, I am so busy with my prog rock project that I may not be able to return to the OSC until about August or September anyway. So I have no horse in this race whatever is decided.

Congrats to the winners.
If you want I can put the winners on iTunes / Spotify etc.
Drop a message here or pm me if you'd like that.
In the (unlikely ) event these tracks make any money, this will be put back in OSC. For what purpose we'll figure out by then I guess.

Congrats to everyone and thanks for voting, of course!
Hehe, really funny that this happens to me again... , but I'm super happy and grateful that you show such wonderful appreciation for what I'm doing and the great encouragement you're giving to me, again. I'm really hoping, though, that you all understand how much your creative powers are being appreciated and that such a stacking should never be mistaken for a hierarchy of meaning.
Sure, Photonic is in the well deserved #1 spot and one could think the burden was on him to tell you what I want to tell you now, but I simply claim the right to do so anyway:
What makes me so deeply happy and kind of surprises me a little, because I surely don't represent "current" styles, even if I do try to understand and adopt them to some extend, but what makes me happy is that what you've voted for is my sincere love, joy and dedication to creating music. I've never made it my profession, but I commit to it with all my heart and mind and devote with total happiness my entire focus on it, regardless as to whether it was "reasonable" to do so in a conventional sense. Meaning, I will for these moments ignore all else and try to exist inside a song. I may look outward to see what might improve its substance, but when I'm inside, I care only for it, like a joyful meditation. I'm telling you this, because it may allow you to let go, in case you feel like you had to serve some other objective or you might try to craft music from the outside. This is totally possible, of course, and the most masterful hits may well be produced that way, but it also is a lot more challenging and exhausting to do so. Your voice may not find a way inside such a construction, but we really connect to our voices when we listen to sincere music. Ok, ok, I should probably stop already, but I want to share with you why you make me so happy and I wished it had nothing to do with points or the likes, but simply you telling me what you feel so I can learn about it. I'm trying to do so, when I leave comments on SC, though, I sometimes fail to be accurate or even understandable, I'm afraid, haha. ...anyway, so many of you do not need to hear any of what I just said, because you clearly know this too well and go about it likely in the same or similar fashion. Please, do not feel patronized by me, writing all this down. But those, who still have to gain more faith in their calling and power to make music, hopefully it gives them some extra affirmation to let music make them go deeper and really let go of fear and/or expectation and permit themselves a moment of pure devotion. Devotion to music means to understand what kind of paradigm they want their music to live in and become at least familiar with its nature, so that you as musician gain enough orientation to move about freely. It's not about dogmatism or the likes...(my god, I'm still writing )...it's really just about orientation. I'd love to one day hear somebody do a fully committed Roma like dance, hehehe, or some Indian Raga...pfff, that would be awesome! Hmmm...
In short, again: THANK YOU!
OH, and I forgo my price! Have at it!

@Taron
I finally get it. Which is why I'll be leaving the OSC for most of this year to work on my Prog Rock project. That is where my passion is. And it's not for money or glory or fame or anything else other than a love for an era that I wish had never died. In short, this is something I have to do even if I am the only one who gets any enjoyment out of it.
Thank you for being such an inspiration to me, more than you will ever know or even begin to comprehend.
I have no doubt that you will continue to finish up near the top of these things even though that's not an end goal for you. But it's your love for music that will continue to take you there.
To that...all I can say is this.
Enjoy the ride.

Very well done Photonic and top 5 winners - awesome tracks
Can't believe I got into the top 10, let alone 6th. Thanks for your votes, you made my day I feel like there must have been a mistake for me to have placed higher than a lot of the amazing tracks I listened to But hey, not complainin' See you in the land of Mono!
ps Regarding commercial effects - for me personally it's fine either way (with a slight preference for free) - and I would be happiest with whatever encourages the most people to be involved.
