Aloysius wrote:I have Session Strings (non pro version) and it is perfect for Disco. If you don't like them, you don't like Disco. The Presets include MTown Scoops and Falls, which are exactly what is required for Disco. I checked out everything else on the market at the time of purchase and this product is ideal.

If you want to get samples, you can't do any better than 'LoopMasters: Real Strings Vol.2 - Disco Strings'. If you don't like them, you don't know anything about the Disco sound.

All imho of course.

I would go as far as to say that is probably one of the worst "disco" tracks i have ever heard.

each to their own.

ps, you could 100 do better with even the basic session strings.

I'm talking about the quality of the string sound itself. Session Strings almost sounds as bad as a Solina.

Okay, went to Loopmasters and checked out the disco strings.

They are EXACTLY the sound I'm looking for. Anybody who says Session Strings sounds that good is crazy.

However, having said that, I'm assuming that each loop I listened to is pre-programmed. In other words, that's the melody line you get. So if I want a melody loop that contains different note intervals I need to find a different loop. And if none of the loops in the pack have the specific note interval I'm looking for, I'm out of luck.

That's the problem with loops. They're an "as is" kind of thing. If none of the loops fit what I want to do, I'm back to square one.

But yeah, sound wise they are perfect.

Best Service Peter Siedlaczek Complete Orchestral Collection contains ...

"Smart Violins
Another of Peter Siedlaczek´s unique sample libraries: A comprehensive collection of runs, licks and other patterns, as well as long notes and legato steps played at different intervals, performed by a large violin ensemble. Outstanding construction tools for creating perfectly realistic runs and melodic lines playable in all keys.

It would be total overkill to buy a collection of an orchestra, choir, two string libraries, and a prepared piano just for one of the string libraries. But I have this and it is pretty useful, and the Smart Violins seem like a good compromise between loops and Session Strings.

If you do end up using the Advanced Orchestra instruments, you can add a lot of realism by using the "SIPS" Kontakt script for legato lines. It can be hard to wrap your head around, but it really adds a lot.

Hate to say it, but Session Strings Pro is the best I've found for disco (that isn't a phrase library). I often layer with a better library though, and lean heavily on them for the scoops and falls. They don't get any use outside this purpose for me, I'm not a fan of the library in general at all.

I don't think I have the Session Strings Pro. I have the Session Strings that came with Komplete 9 and all it says is Session Strings.

The Pro isn't transformative I don't think (whereas Horns Pro is MUCH better than regular). I think the scoops and falls are in regular, right?

Did you browse once among the Precision Sound catalog?

It is here:

One of my preferred catalogs for its quality. You could check it out...

Zero-G could be also a huge place to check out.

I love their cinematic products, but I know that they also make other sample libraries for many genres, including the Disco.

They always provide an excellent quality in their very original samplesets.

You have also those from Samplephonics. I have several excellent products from them (one of my preferred being "Zefora Ethereal Voices").

Me ... I love a bit of disco. :hihi:

When I was a wee boy of 10, my favourite track was ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme, (the album version). Especially the instrumental part from 2:45 on. Lots of strings on it too.
