I want one that sounds like this.
4 minutes and 25 seconds into the song.

Check out Fable Sounds: Broadway Gig
I got Broadway Lites on a $99 deal at either VstBuzz or AudioPluginDeals (can't remember which..), anyway.. great product.

None of the audio demos highlight the sax plus I don't need all those other instruments.progtronic wrote:Check out Fable Sounds: Broadway Gig

I just had to show you this Steven, in case you didn't see it. I know Sample modeling have all saxophones from baritone, tenor, soprano. I don't know how they sound in reality, but this old demo in Youtube is quite impressive for me.
In the end it also comes down to playing technique. I used to play saxophone and it is hard to play in a similar way on a keyboard

Okay, it has a nice mellow and very realistic tone. Sounds better than any sax I currently own. Now go and listen to the Billy Joel piece at 4:25 after listening to this demo. It doesn't have that gritty, growling tone that I am looking for.ATN69 wrote:I just had to show you this Steven, in case you didn't see it. If it can prove to me that it can do that (I'm not hearing it in this mellow demo) I'll get it.

The Billy Joel piece is a tenor sax for sure. I don't know if you can accomplish that gritty and slightly distorted sound on any vst sax. My advice is though to check out the sample modeling Tenor sax. They have updated their saxophones since the demo video was made. They also support midi breath control which possibly could help to accomplish what you want. Or you can buy a real Tenor sax and start practicewagtunes wrote:Okay, it has a nice mellow and very realistic tone. Sounds better than any sax I currently own. Okay, the tenor sax has a little more bite to it. It's almost there. Not quite, but it's getting there.ATN69 wrote:I just had to show you this Steven, in case you didn't see it. Problem is, you have to buy the whole sax collection. They don't sell these separately. And I'm not spending 229 Euro for a tenor sax.

I seriously doubt I can hire him so this doesn't help me.Aloysius wrote:Mark Rivera - The Sax Player

I decided not to waste my time making a suggestion. Just enjoying listening to the talent you ''uncovered''. He really is a great artist in his own right. Thanks ...

VSL has a nice Tenor Sax but it requires an E-licenser dongle. For 60€ (115€ for full articulations), it's a bargain.
Listen to "City Noir Detective" and "Pink Panther" demos to get an idea of the growl

Sounds nice. But the demos are too tame for me to tell if it'll do what I want it to do.tappert wrote:VSL has a nice Tenor Sax but it requires an E-licenser dongle. For 60€ (115€ for full articulations), it's a bargain.
