Postby midi_transmission; Mon Aug 07, 2017 2:50 pm any new competitor to Diva for fat sounds?

Everytime I came back to the Diva demo I' amazed, there is a certain fatness or pressure. I get his pressure sometimes with other soft synth, but with Diva it happens automatically somehow.

The only thing which put me off was the CPU load in the past.

I'm not monitoring the VST market close anymore, is there any new competitor that I should watch before buying Diva that is on the same level sonically?

Repro-1 (also by u-he) isn't a Mini emulation but it sounds really good.

Thanks guys.I should be more specific. I'm not looking for a Mini emulation. I'm looking mostly for classic warm deep pads/string/bass sounds (detroit techno stuff/old deep house). I'm really into these Diva presets.

I think Repro is more a special emulation, right? The demos are more blip blap edgy sounds.

Your video says it all, Classic OB sounds, meaning Oberheim OB-X.

You have two choices: Sonicprojects OP-X Pro II, or the freeware synth by 2DaT/DiscoDSP Obxd.

Or you can wait until next year, hopefully u-he will create the Oberheim mashup by then. :hihi:

If it's not just that Oberheim sound you're after, Spire can sound very warm and lush like the sounds in your video. And also very fat and punchy.
It's not "news" anymore, it's "infotainment".

Obviously anything older than Diva doesn't fit the OPs question.

Not new, and not a competitor, but I'd reach for TAL-U-NO-LX for the Synthwave the vibe in that demo.

Maybe also PG8X and Synth1?

You're almost into FM for some of those sounds. So, Operator, FM8, or Dexed? I'm not aware of anything new that sounds like this.

Repro-1 can sound *very* lush. I was vamping over the Blade Runner sound track the other day and it had plenty of tones that fit right in, and Repro-5 will add polyphony. The Legend is also great.

You won't go wrong with Diva, but if you want lower CPU you could see if Zebra gets any of the vibe you want. Much lower CPU and a great sounding and versatile synth.
