Alternative to Hive

I think there is no alternative to HIVE that is as easy and fast to work with. Maybe Sylenth1 is the closest, and it sounds different. I ended abandoning DUNE 2 a little, which I LOVED in the past, just because I madly got in love with HIVE's one page approach, with lots of modulation, drag and drop, all needed is right there, and as such ended replacing DUNE 2 for bread-and-butter sounds and quick production stuff. I wish DUNE 2 (or 3?) returned to one-page approach, just like it and DUNE 1...

I thought Hive sounded a bit bland at first. But eventually I sat down and just played the presets for a few hours. It has incredible depth in the sound and now I really like it. I would definitly recomend checking out Spire, very strong sound, good filters. Dune 2 is good but more generic in the sound to me. Its a very subjective thing so try them out I have Hive and Spire, sold Dune 2.

Dune 1 was my go-to before Hive's release. It's a great sounding, eminently usable synth- and there are several patch banks available for it if preset availability is a concern.xalama qo wrote:Let's not forget another 1-page goodie...Dune 1. Still available for sale, still light on CPU, still sounds really good.

only thing... Spire has lots of tabbing... it is not like Hive in that regard.mrj1nx wrote:I thought Hive sounded a bit bland at first. Waves' Element has everything on one page and sounds very nice.

An 8 layer synth with a MM, 2 FX chains and MSEG is never going to be a 1 page synth.Yorrrrrr wrote:I wish DUNE 2 (or 3?) returned to one-page approach, just like it and DUNE 1...

Iirc the OP asked about a simple to use subtractive synth but who caresYorrrrrr wrote:Bazille with the GearPorn skin has everything in one screen and it's a fantastic synth. It's actually pretty easy to use, once you get a grasp on it.
Actually Rapid is something to consider. It has 8 layers but each of these layers is just what the OP is asking for - a simple to use 3 osc subtractive synth with great sound, good unison and decent effects.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Yeah, but multiple tabs, like Spire, kind of. Anyway, i don't think you'll get a reasonably featured synth with a one page layout anyway. Even Sylenth1 has a flip page for the B part. And a very unconventional Master filter section, which still confuses the hell out of me.AnX wrote:Z3ta ? (Havent seen it for years, it was one page tho...?)
