Voted. Some really incredible tracks! Sorry that I didn't have time to leave any comments. To be honest I probably shouldn't have even submitted this month since I did not have time to properly devote myself to any part of the process but I felt indebted having accepted the generous 30 day no limit trial. Anyway, good luck to all and a big thanks to Dmitry Sches!

Oh yesss Paulstretch. It's super cool Xenakios is rebirthing it in VST form. Been a dependable part of my toolkit for so long, one of my go-to methods over the years has been building custom Kontakt instruments for my own use, out of granular/feedbacked/paulstretched material, both using original recordings and existing libraries, combining stuff in the box and out of the box. So improvising ambient backdrops like this is close to my heart:toonertik wrote:yup I get all that..

It's more often that I need to sketch out something like this though:

... (Used that sketch as a similar contrasting example a good while ago, heh.)
I'm sure all genres are welcome in the OSC, and it's almost certain there are people here who are familiar with a particular style, no matter which one you pick] Peter:H [ wrote:I'm actually trying to motivate some guys over there to join OSC...though you probably wont like it...one is kinda hardstyle 160 bpm+ and the second is pure noize
From my point of view, the special thing about OSC is the "constrained writing" approach, ecouraging technical thinking and pushing one's skills in a setting that may well call for unlikely solutions. You might end up doing something you might not have done otherwise, and once you learn something here, it's yours to keep and expand on, and a useful part of your overall capacity from there onwards.

Just because it's insane doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

You're welcome And also thanks to toonertik and guenon for pointing to the new VST version of it.eraze the borders wrote:Oh my goodness! Until now I never heard of Paulstrecth. Thanks OSC crew for widening my horizon once again
You guys are incredible - you just know everything. I mention it, you tell a stroy from 10 years ago about it;-)
My journey into OSC is one of technology and sound experience and a big deal of this is getting to know tools and the universe of sound they open to you...I want to erase the borders.
As I wrote earlier - check out the Track of user seismic1 / whatisname where I got to know paulstretch recently. The track can give you an impression what you can do with PaulStretch in an ambient track: https://soundcloud.com/whatsisname/the-entropy-clause
BTW: Would this track be able to win an OSC? Just wondering...
And some trivia - the Paul of PaulStrech is (was?) masterind behind ZynAddSubFX as well. Remarkable talent! http://www.microscopics.co.uk/blog/2010 ... aul-nasca/

Yawn... OLD news>> ZynAddSubFX is one those amazing synths well known and loved by true synth aficionados. Not the easiest to program and so not widely known... No, because Paulstretch isn't allowed; otherwise I would have already entered a track with Paulstretched ambiences like the ones I posted above] Peter:H [ wrote:BTW: Would this track be able to win an OSC? Just wondering...
Hehe, but seriously speaking, I do think a well made track in that style, if not with the staple stretch sound but still in a similar ambient vein, can place high in the OSC.

BTW: What is the current state about ZynAddSubFX. I know, there was a complete overhaul/rewrite going on. Has that been finished already?

Yes, there is a version 3... it is a paid version for now and is more of a complete GUI makeover than anything else (it is the GUI that is paid as the synth code is kinda free, I forget what licence it is on, maybe a flavour of the GNU)

Thanks for that info, toonertik. Short look up in OSC history, ZynAddSubFX was featured already, https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-26-zynaddsubfx.toonertik wrote:I certainly do not know everything... that, my friend is the joy>> to keep learning and discovering .. learnt a lot here in the OSCs... ))))] Peter:H [ wrote:

With BJ Porter actually participating...long long ago OMG is his track good! Can I give you 5 points for that now, BJ...
Would it make sence to talk to the current ZynAddSubFX team in charge to do something like the Thorn Trial-Licence-OSC?
