is there anything else like Output's Signal pulse engine

Been enjoying the strong convictions this thread
Personally I don't mind presets at all as I'm more of a tunesmith than a sound designer.
I hardly use loops, unless they're baked-in as part of the production process - like Signal or BFD.
And if I'm honest, I'm a fairly crap sound designer, as I never know when to stop fiddling about until the whole thing's ruined or too doomy.
I admire people who can do it really well. It takes a special quality of ear.
But on the other hand, if you can whistle it, I'll dream up a half-decent counter melody real quick.
So presets and high speed workflow matter a lot to me.
Plus I "believe in" software that works at the speed of thought (and hopefully at a great price )
Any more Kontakt gizmo suggestions very welcome. Please share.

It is almost scary how much I can relate to that statement. Tunesmiths unite!kevvvvv wrote:And if I'm honest, I'm a fairly crap sound designer, as I never know when to stop fiddling about until the whole thing's ruined or too doomy.

It's actually possible to do both. I've been writing songs and programming synths for over 40 years. It takes a lot of dedication and long hours.mgw38 wrote:It is almost scary how much I can relate to that statement. Well, I have been making music for a little under three years now. They say you become an expert after about 10,000 hours of practice. At the moment I would guess that I am 30% in. So, let's have this conversation again in about 7 years.wagtunes wrote:It's actually possible to do both. I've been writing songs and programming synths for over 40 years. I've been really enjoying Abstrung since it's all plucked and hammered strings, my fav:) New versions just out with vast sample collections including mallets and bowed sounds and tons of pulse-y sequencing options, randomizers all over the place… These can go into both full melodic and atonal rhythmic directions.

Esp. the two on sale now for $90, Alive Perc and Hybrid Pulses. The demos all sound similar, but you can push the engines into a really wide range of feels
I'm in the "get Gatekeeper and pulse your own sounds" camp personally, but that works really well with pulse libraries, too.

Anyone has substance?
How good and diverse are the non synth sounds? That side seems interesting, same for the last string instrument.

Second the 8Dio Blendstrument suggestion. Truly outstanding instruments.

Blendstrument... they are very innovative, but... I think they require sound design skills. I noted that the demos sound great but when using it, it is hard to get good sound. Especially the drum version- I can not get in to random drums sounds without actual rhythm or order. But then again. My music is specific, not abstract. (Funny, I just got nominated for local music award in Experimental category)- I guess using all these weird instruments is experimenting in some way.
