It is a kind of steel drum plugin that you want to find ?craigtumps wrote:Oh well the hunt for a steel drum goes on.
And only synthesized or it can be a sampled one ?

Yeah, I would like a synthesized one not sampled.
I tried DMI Hammer and made a nice sound with it but Bitwig doesn't like that either! It works but I cant save any patches.
Im using Korg M1 now, its more of a Kalimba sound but it will do for now. I would prefer Steel pan though.

And it has to be free or you don't care ?craigtumps wrote:Yeah, I would like a synthesized one not sampled.

(note : in Korg synths, for such sounds I would try with the Wavestation rather than with M1)

A free plugin which would probably make perfectly the job is Dexed... with my Dexed Cart that you find also in Dexed's webpage.
In fact the sounds of steel drums is perfectly in the usual abilities of the FM synthesis, so of any FM synth. But Dexed is one of the best ones, and totally free... and I have made a compilation of thousands presets for the DX7 which all work perfectly in Dexed. You just have to find the good preset (there are so many in my Dexed Cart that I can't remember which one could be the best for your ears).
Tell me also if you absolutely want a free plugin or if you don't care taking a payware (and up to which price).

Oh yeah I will give Wavestation a try, I have all the Legacy synths.
I dont mind paying something but not a huge amount. I don't want to buy some really expensive synth just for one sound. It would need to be really good.

Like up to £50 I would go but it would need to be a good sound because otherwise I can just use what I have. What pay synths do you have in mind?
Hmm I will give Dexed a go too. Thanks for your help.

Try the now free Ironhead and related Spawn sound demos
and plugins, maybe you'll find something of interest.
32bit synthedit, but let the sound guide you.
Cheers

OMG xoxos has pulled his website down? Did he announce to stop further developments? He seemed like a guy with always new ideas for plugins. Is he (rurik) ok?

I don't know, do you mean developing video games? That could result in some pretty weird games then I suppose
