Do you know an vst-instrument which can play the sound of a chainsaw?
Perhaps there are also other possibilites to generate this sound (library, sampleplayer or something like that). If you have an idea, this would be great!

https://www.sampleism.com/Soundholder/product/chainsaw/ is a chainsaw sample library in WAV format. You could use your DAW or a sampler to include it in your track.

Perhaps you have also an idea for a free synth. It must not be perfect, something like that would be great...

I want to play it live with a midi controller. That is why a synth would be better.

For cheap/free: as others said, any sampler, probably the one already in your DAW.
For $$$$: Reformer Pro

If a Buzzsaw is good enough, £10.00 (I think it can be used in the free non-Pro Reformer):

Tone2 RayBlaster comes with a chainsaw preset. It's quaint. Also, AudioGaming is probably cooking up a $400 VST specifically for chainsaw sounds

I have Kontakt 5. Is it also possible to use this or would you use another sample player? I have a midi breath controller (ewi from akai).

Perhaps a short addition...
It would be nice to start the sample when blowing in the midi-controller. It sends Midi CC2 and Midi CC11.
With these midi-signals it should be able to control the volume of the sample.
By ending breathing and beginning again, the sample should start again.
Is it possible? Which (free?) sample player would you recommend to do this?
