FWIW, I just discovered that Paypal screwed me out of a hundred dollars on the exchange rate. I did the numbers based on the rate as per when I purchased and the price should have been around $3,100. Paypal charged me over $3,200. That extra $100 was ear marked for V5, which I now can't get.
I can't begin to tell you how much I despise PayPal.

Probably a PayPal fee, and not the exchange rate.

Paypal fees are taken FROM the VENDOR. I should know. I'm a vendor. On a $15 sale I get about $14.04.BMoore wrote:Probably a PayPal fee, and not the exchange rate.
So no, it is NOT a Paypal fee.

Paypal are the masters of the double dip douche...
They hit you with the fees and then screw you on the cross rates....
As well as getting their cut on the other end of the deal....
So they are far from being a charitable organisation....
When they were directed connected to eBay,they had that system stitched up directly in their favour as well...
Paypal should really be called PayMore, but that doesn't sound quite as friendly

Well, within the US buying is not charged a fee. If you transfer money to another person's account there is a fee.
I just don't want to do business with them, Peter Thiel is a hard right-winger who uses his money in ways that hurt us, and I don't want to help his bottom line in any way. And for instance here, he's manipulated the currency exchange, like people can't be bothered to look it up.
My contact at VSL has me send to their PP account for the re-establishing lost licenses transaction, which is not large amounts and is kind of set aside with a case number and is convenient. When I have sold here I've had to use it, but if I was really doing business where it would add up I would set up a page with a way to take credit card.
I've used it for donations as well, I hate having to give the SOB a cut.

PayPal is awful, I never use it anymore. For payments - credit card directly, for sending/receiving money - TransferWise. So much better.

For some reason when I buy something in a foreign currency with my credit card, the exchange rate I end up getting is the exchange rate three days after the purchase. I guess they have to wait for the transaction to settle before they do the exchange, but it makes planning difficult sometimes.

PayPal , I've grown to hate.... Why are we not using Apple Pay or Google Wallet ???? Do we feel insecure about those 2 options ???? Everyone is either on Android or Apple for phones now .

No, it's not. Every bank or payment service has similar conditions. You don't expect people there to work for free, do you?wagtunes wrote:Well you know what? That's just f**king criminal.Michael L wrote:Paypal has fees for currency conversion and many other things:
