Agreed, that's why my original suggestion was to make the sample based one a sister product that has a really nice price for owners of MT.

BTW, a good alternative to building in reverbs, ambience, delays, etc..., would be to have sends to the extra outs.

Instead of just sending the whole pad to the extra outputs, you could send the proper amount.

I wonder why more VSTs don't do this?

all i want is the ability to easilly click through full kits like we can with individual instruments. i really dislike having to go to the main menu, open program, load a kit, find that its not what im looking for, start the process over again...etc., etc.

sure, the current file load is fine if i already know the one i want. but when i dont (which is more often the case), it would be far easier for me to find an appropriate kit if i could simply click through them.

so the addition of another left/right button for kit selection is the only improvement to microtonic that i want. otherwise, i think its excellent the way it is.

I bet a lot of people would also find midi export of patterns useful...

Post

Midi export of patterms is possible in hosts like Cubase SX and Nuendo, just set the instrument as the input in the selected midi track and play/record, it'll spit the midi sequence out onto the arrange window for you to edit/export as midi file.

Great VSTi this 1 , It really needs individual outputs for every sound.

Doesn't work properly in SX, the midi information spitted out is slightly out of sync. The developer is aware of the problem but wasn't able to solve it yet :(

For me, the biggest drawback at the momemt is the fact that the step sequencer only lets you see the pattern for one cell at a time. This makes it very hard to create complex patters. Another point is the limited flexibility to specifiy the velocity of a step. Taking these two things together renders the step sequencer in its current form useless for me.

I use Live, which does not support midi out from VSTs, so midi export would be the only way for me.

Also, I used to think I needed 32 steps on the screen until I realized that I program more in 8th steps, now I CAN program 2 bars, I just use the fill when I need fills.

Ok, after playing around last night, I'm thinking maybe 32 steps would be cool...

For wrench45us and anyone else trying out the drum sample player idea, keep in mind that some will work and some won't. The reason for this is mT puts out very short notes, so your sampler may not respond to them. I can't remember which ones I've tried that don't work but they would be one or more of the freebies here. DR-008 works great and probably any sampler that has the capability to "hold" (or can be told to ignore note-off messages) would work fine.
I did get around to trying this last night with energyXT and didn't get the midi out to trigger any notes thru midi in another vst. (in thinking about it now, it may be something as simple as setting a proper midi channel)

I really need to run through the energyXT tutorials before I give up -- just a lot of buttons and switched I don't understand.

I did get an energyXT midi pattern to trigger another vst (but I don't understand the two modes trigger and hold -- trigger plays the whole pattern -- hold plays one measure??) AND it appears that it's possible to step record a midi pattern in energyXT's midi pattern -- so presumably I could have stored microTonic's midi output into there, saved it of as a file, etc. etc.

IF it doesn't have the timing issue mentioned elsewhere. Mid pattern has a quantize stretcher that could stretch those very brief note on triggers.

Hi!

I just read this thread and it was surely one interesting reading. Thanks for all the suggestions guys (and girls)!

I am certain that most of you will be happy with what I have in mind for the next version of the MicroTonic. I cannot reveal too much in specific yet since it is still in a fairly early stage of development. One thing I can and will reveal however is that I will offer a solution for those who want individual outputs for the drum channels.

I can also reveal that a version for Mac OS X is going to be released soon (VST only). The beta testing has been going on for a few weeks already and it has been going remarkably well so far.

Anyhow, as always, thanks for your support. Keep it up!

Cool!

Glad to share :)

Oh, one thing that I forgot was a more clear pattern chain view...

Post

One more thing for me, too: live pattern preview with next/prev arrows (like with changing pad/drum sounds on the fly).

Oh, OK maybe also saving and loading kits seperately from programs..
