Not sure what a "real" arpeggiator is.. but I really like the Energy XT one.. you just draw in the notes, make the pattern shorter or longer, and change the speed.. amongst other things..
Play it by ear

an arpeggioator is basically a tool to divide chords into single notes.
in times when synthesizers were not able to create polyphonical notes or multivoice pattern people used an arpeggiator to kinda split the chord up into several notes, so it sounds like a chord but it is an arpeggio which is basically a chords but with the notes played after another.
to let the arpeggio sound even bigger most people use a delay under it, so you kinda tricked the ear by layering the notes together. the vstis of today are already equipped with delay, reverb or whatever.
i know that energy xt might be cool, but i just looked (and got a lot of info, thx again) for a simple small arpeggiator

Okay, now here's a question - does anyone know of an arpeggiator that works in OSX/Logic?

Logic has its own arpeggiator. Take a look in the environment.ztrauq wrote:Okay, now here's a question - does anyone know of an arpeggiator that works in OSX/Logic?

And if that doesn't do it for you, check out ReMidi http://www.grantedsw.com/remidi/. It emulates guitar strums as well as arpeggios.andywanders wrote:Logic has its own arpeggiator. Re: Energy... there was an Energy Free and an Energy Pro. The latter came free if you had Massiva or have EnergyXT, it uses the same keyfile.
IMHO the EnergyXT arpeggiator is one of the best solutions, because you don't have to do funky stuff to hook it to a vsti (no FLS Midi Out generators, Directixer loopback, etc), but some of the others appear to be capable as well.
