Can you have multiple instances of ASynth?

I have it playing a bassline on a track. I opened another instance on a different track to do a lead sound and I couldn't get it to act independent from the bassline track.
One was one channel 1, the other on channel 4.
Am I stupid?
ok, don't answer the last part...

what do you mean by "act independantly" ?
I mean changing the patch in the 2nd one also changed the patch in the first one that was open instead of leaving the bass and having a lead patch going at the same time that the already recorded bassline was playing.

Let me just add that I know for a fact that this can be done. I used to do it in Cubase 3.7
I can't figure out why it wouldn't work for me last night though...

You have to choose Asynth (2) on your second track.
They dont have to have different midi channels when it's two different instruments by the way...
