There is a few tracks like this, where the bass is almost sucking. I'm not sure whether its a tuned kick drum with a long release or a some sort of side-chaining.
I have no idea how this is being made

The 'bass' is just a sine wave with an attack like a kick or 909 tom. You can hear it play by itself at 1m37 onwards in the breakdown.
Try using either a 909 kick or a sub bass preset with a small pitch envelope at the start to give it some bite & body. It probably is sidechained very sightly to make it breath.
