Shapov 'String Scrape' Sound

Was just wondering if someone could advise me as to how to create the sound at about 2:26 in Shapov's 'Disco Tufli'. It sounds like a string scrape on a distorted guitar so is there anyway to synthesise this sound or is it merely recording and editing a sample of a guitar string scrape?
