Hey, I'm looking to find the origins/way to make a certain Zimmer-ish horns/brass pad. It's a Zimmer-ish brass/horns-sound which sounds like it's being blown out of steam-pipe. I used to think it was an Omnisphere patch, but I can't find it in there.
(Brink OST, the brass kicks off immediately.)

Also, the sound is on Mass Effect 3-OST, track called "Scientists" here (It comes in at about 14 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jacW-TG ... E808DD1BBF

yes good question...one i'd like the answer to as well..
my guess....each of the orchestral brass hits has a big kick or taiko style drum underneath which gives them the attack
Then there is a slight swell...so they rise in brightness and harmonics...
Lots of reverb and perhaps a layered and filtered saw wave for extra bite...
Some distortion for more growl...

Orchestra and Zebra are 95% of his sound. Try layering synth brass with orchestral samples.

I'm not in the studio today (happy Easter!) and listening on laptop, but I think I know the sound you're talking about. It's got so FM modulation in there too, but probably quite simple to recreate with a mix of brass sample and some saw-wave FM'd with a little overdrive in the high frequency harmonics.
