Hi everyone,

been wondering about this for a while - how do you make sounds often used in ethno & world music?

These two for example... Appearing on 0:15, the flute-ish sound in the background, used to hear it everywhere back in the day, even Shakira's Whenever, wherever has something similar. Also, on 0:19, typical "haunting" ethno bass. Both of these sound like you've been hearing them since forever. Help, anyone?

Well the flute is a typical "Shakuhachi" type flute. The sudden pitch/intensity accent is ususally part of the sample. And I hear no bass at 0:19? Do you mean the pad sound? Sounds like a normal analog warm pad.

Those type sounds are so extremely common, you find them in one million sample players and VAs. For the flute, a quality sample is a good idea.

THanks a lot! Unfortunately I'm forever a noob, just takes forever for me to figure something out.

after using a couple of workstation/romplers, you'll soon appreciate how hackneyed it all is and be begging for a sound to challenge your knowledgebase :) enjoy the intrigue!
