How to make this rich analog BASS sound?

The bass comes in at 00:25, the steady pulsing analog bass sound (the beginning of each phrase also has a one-note taurus-style bass layered with it, but I'm asking about the main quarter-note pulsing bass sound)
I know from an interview that he has "A Prophet 5 and some old Oberheims" in his rig. But I want to get this sound with a soft-synth, I'm thinking Diva or Omnisphere 2 would be best (I also have OP-X Pro II, though...)
Any thoughts on what gives such a simple sound so much character? It has a sort of rich, boxy quality.. not sure what else to call it. Is that coming from the filter being overdriven a bit? Just guessing...
And all ideas / approaches would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Video blocked here. This should work:

Sawtooth based bass with Saw-LFO on filter should do it.

Here my design in Synth1:

To make it fat unison is used. A touch of noise mixed in. Not much of saturation or distortion.

Sure.
Use your MOD wheel to dial-in the LFO filter modulation.
Above demo was with a touch of reverb.
