Is there any sense to use chords for techno bass?

How to make that sound...

I dont talk about specific chord sounds like these house stabs. I mean bass for techno in the range between 60Hz to 120Hz. Until now I use just monophonic sounds. But i realized that even bass could be sound better with intervalls or even chords. But why it is common to use bass monophonic when chords sound good? Furthermore is there any problem with the low frequencies I havent realized yet?

Thanks for your help!

Just try it... Do bassy chords really sound good to you? To me they don't...

If it sounds good, don't bother.

But I seriously doubt that one can distinctly hear chords in that frequency range. As it is the close to the lowest limit we can hear (~20Hz), it is hard for the ear to tell which note is being played. So if you start stacking them up, it becomes muddy very quickly.

From a spectral point of view, I guess it can create some destructive interferences (usually neglictable with higher frenquencies but not here), and result in weird artifacts.

Do you have an audio example ?

it will sound muddy, but instead you have a few options

a) .stacking octaves and fiddle around with the volume of each octave maybe LP the higher octaves

b) using two bass patches, one patch is your usual sub channel, monophonic (and/or stacked octaves), dry, LP around 100-250 hz
the other bass is highpassed around 100-250 hz here you can go wild with chords, polyphony, detuning and effects everything you like. try out different octaves aswell

with separating the subbass, you will avoid muddyness, phase cancellation etc.

cant wait to hear the examples.

Chords (or two note intervals) using a simple sinewave oscillator sounds legit to me, if they are not interference with the kick.

I think its it as example for the op.

Is it a chord if its one note?

Tune 3 or 4 oscillators to your preferred voicing in mono, one note chords

That would be a "house stab" (which the OP is specifically not referring to...)

The result must be quite the same whether it is two oscillators or if you play two notes with a monophonic patch.
Well, soundwaves may be different on the first case but it doesn't change much.

I'm a bit confound with redsunmusik example... It has somewhat of an harmonic value, but it's mostly rhythmic
