Probably not the answer you are looking for,but it is the right answer.all of those SH atmospheres came from sample cd's(drum loops too)with some minor additions of guitars and rompler sounds here and there (mostly Roland).i very vaguely remember some of them come from those old Spectrasonics libraries,like,Cuckoo Land and Hans Zimmer Guitars.there is a thread somewhere on an SH related fan site where someone discovered the origins of pretty much all the sounds from the entire series of games (up until about Homecoming at least.not familiar of whether there was any games after that)

using effed up samples & the following plugins can you get pretty close.
