How to make that sound...

When you look at factory presets from synths - you're commonly presented with basic presets that aren't anything new. Sometimes I'm eager to know what a synth can really do under the hood. I often find that factory presets never really do brave things like revving up filter distortion - it's always the same bread and butter sounds that one is presented with. So I thought of making a thread which is about pushing synths to the limit and doing interesting things with them, kind of like what some of the guys do in the one-synth-challenge. So the idea would be to give a different perception of how a synth can sound.
So if you're interested in this concept - make minimum 2 sounds with a synth of your choice without using external effects (unless necessary).

Coincidentally, I made this for a soundset.
I’m guessing some of the first sounds would qualify as hard?

Anyway, these weren’t meant to be bread and butter for sure :)

Layered acid. First is stock Dune 2 preset with minimal tweaks, the second is also Dune 2, but with sync. Sweeping sync ratio gives this sick bend modulation.

^Dune 2 is a fantastic synth and I use it a lot lately, I also still use old synths like vanguard and albino 3 since I'm so accustomed to them

I love to try to make really esoteric sounds with synthesis :borg:

You're right. I recently did a factory bank and I kept it to bread and butter sounds. I did try to show some off the modulation power but did not dive into the extremes of the filters and lfos. Funny, I am now pushing it into the " harder" zones and feel that a opportunity was missed by not doing that initially.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
