In fairness, the way you both suggested is even easier than I thought - I can just copy the vfx preset file and edit the parameter in wordpad - this is nice and easy :-) Thank you again!!!

Wow, $159 for a new V-Machine is pretty low, I don't want it but if it was a few years back and they still had customer support, maybe.

Hello,

I have bought a v-machine via Gearstation. I think they are directly related to SM Pro Audio, because I got an email back form the Geatstation contact form from sound-music.com, who is the reseller in AU.

My v-machine has worked for one day with succes.
When I connected it to my computer, my computer told me that the firmwar was old. So I updated it. (Updated and reformat de flashdisk) I also copied the new pulgin library to an USB stick and copied that to the flashdrive.

Everything worked correctly, till I started up the v-machine the next morning.

I have only connected the power and nothing else (nu USB stick nor PC connection). I get the “V-machine” and startup-bar. Then a get the message Startup Timeout. Disconnect USB Devices then restart. See: smproaudio.com/faq

I have tried starting-up with the Learn buttens pushed in, but I don’t go to the upgrade menu.

I have made an erasedisk with V2EraseStick.img as described in http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/Knowled ... ry-restore , but I get the same error message. Even when I wait for more than 15 minutes, the USB-stick doesn’t flash. It once flashes on shortly when I switch-on the unit.

I have removed and reapplied the Flashdisk and Memory to check if there was no bad connection. But without succes.
I have started up without the flashdisk and with the USB erasedisk connected. But no change.

How do I get the device working again?

Bootloader Version: VFX_BL_20081020

I have summited a ticket at http://smproaudio.helpserve.com. But after a week, I haven't got a message back and the ticket is still Unassigned.
Have sent a email to SM Pro Audio, Gearstation and Sound-Music. Or the email is bounced due to a bad email adres of I don't get an answer.

In the meanwhile i have orderd a 44pin to CF adapter and an 44=pin cable. I hope this will fix it.

Try using another usb stick to make the image file on. I had trouble updating one time too, ended up being the USB stick - which still seemed to work OK on the computer. A different stick solved the problem

hello Gmeredith, unfortunately that does not work either. I hope my hd2cf card reader arrives tomorrow. I also have ordered a 44-pin gender changer, then I can see the flash card on my PC.

And at $162? Bought one... mainly to use as a multi-effects unit on the Command Station i just bought.

And yes, I think SM Pro Audio is 'closely related to' Gearstation. My V-Machine was shipped to be from MV Pro Audio, their US distributor, not from Australia.

(and they didn't give me a tracking number until the very early morning before it arrived, but anyway. It was literally scanned to go on the truck for delivery before I had a tracking number...)

The software seems fairly straightforward, though I don't know why the Windows version doesn't use a standard toolbar... (and apparently the interface is drawn using DirectX or OpenGL or something because if i have anything else open at the same time that does, i get horrible interface clashes)

The documentation for the software, however, is far short of complete. But i expected that from reading this thread for years.

But Sm Pro Audio hasn't responded to my ticket for 2 weeks now. The ticket is still unassigned. I hope their busy for the Musikmesse. And therefore has not responded yet. Otherwise the support is terrible. :help:

No response from Gearstation, Sm Pro Audio and their ticket system (http://smproaudio.helpserve.com)

I have called SM Pro Audio DE. They suggested me to call SM Pro Audio AU. I have done that and they responded to find a solution. First they will check is there is a firmware reset or something like that. If that doesn't work, that I can send the unit back (to UA). I'll keep you informed.

Hello,
I'm looking for downloading image to made an erasedisk for V-machine. I follow the guide on http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/Knowled ... ry-restore (http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/32/1/how-to-create-an-erase-stick-for-a-factory-restore) but it's impossible to download the image because it's impossible to log with the account on http://www.mydrive.ch/ (http://www.mydrive.ch/).
Does somebody give me a link to download the file ?
Thanks

Mark

Hello,

I had the same problem. But they fixed is. I have logged on this morning and the directory layout was a bit different, but I could download the erasedisk. If you still hace problems, let me know. Ik have the erasedisk and I could place it on my website of sent it by wetransfer.

My ticket is picked up and probably solved. The heatsink wasn't connected to the PCB that good. I have fixed it and my v-machine has ran for more that 2 hour. Tonight I'll test it with my band.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I writed a ticket about this problem to smproaudio the same day (23rd March).
I had an answer from smproaudio solving the problem three days after.
I tried it and I could download the erasedisk file.

Hi everyone! I have a very important question for me : Does anyone know the VST-plugin that certainly works in V-Machine , and can create a sound similar to a patch with hardware synth KORG 03R\W Here is a link to example of sound: http://yadi.sk/d/JGub7yN7NLPkX (http://yadi.sk/d/JGub7yN7NLPkX)
Description of files in the folder :
Heritage.mp3 - a piece of songs from our album, that we wrote the original audio sounds KORG 03R\W Heritage Key Solo.mp3 - sound patch that interests me , apart from the mix.
Heritage Key Wavestation.mp3 - mix with sound synthesizer KORG Wavestation, which I tried to make look like the original sound .
Heritage Key Wavestation Solo.mp3 - KORG Wavestation synth sound separately from the mix. The difference in sound is, but in any case KORG Wavestation does not suit me , because it is not supported in the V-Machine . Therefore I need some VST-synthesizer that would work on the V- Machine and would sound like the original synthesizer. There is an opportunity to do something similar synthesizer Messiah , but the sound is very thin, and has little overtones in the range of 400-600 Hz.

Hi KVR. Just wanted to post that after reading many posts and reviews of the v-machine, and realizing how problematic and underpowered it is, I decided to buy one:)

I see a good use for it - replacing my stage laptop. My laptop serves me for few auxiliary sounds that complete what the hardware synth I use lacks. Namely I run Omnisphere layered with some soundfont, and backing tracks/one shot samples in Kontakt.
The laptop has let me down a coupe of times by suddenly freezing the ASIO driver for no reason, and it is a clean laptop rig I tested many times before that..and the usb connection is not the most robust to use on shaky stages..I always worry it's gonna unplug mid-sample..

So I am going to convert all my sounds to soundfonts ( resample my omnisphere patches) since I understood that v-machine will run SFZ or sampleLord well.

I hope that the v-machine will make a nice sample player, MUCH more compact and more memory than an old Akai sampler and more reliable than a laptop. I also love the size..

I use my v-machine on stage, and it is amazing! Never let me down. It is the centre sound module of my rig. I definitely recommend Samplelord for the v-machine because it has very low CPU load and is very efficient. I make all my sample and drum banks as soundfonts and then load them into samplelord. The v-machine is limited in power but if you use the plugins that are efficient and work within its limitations then it does the job magnificently.

Here is a typical setup I use live:

Channel 1 on v-machine: Samplelord, running drum kit soundfont samples - provides drum sounds
Channel 2 on v-machine: synth sound vst plugin - such as GTG JP7A, or SQ8L
Channel 3 on v-machine: Samplelord, running samples/noises as a soundfont, or piano/organ soundfont
Channel 4 on v-machine: Samplelord, running bass soundfont

It never runs out of processing power when running all of these channels simultaneously from a sequencer and 2 external keyboard controllers live on stage.

This is what one v-machine has replaced in my old rig:

Yamaha TX802 rack synth
Yamaha TX81z rack synth
Casio VZ10M rack synth
Emu Esi2000 rack sampler
Boss DR660 drum machine
Mixer to run all these racks into one stereo out to amp
MIDI splitter box to connect all these modules

Cheers, Graham
