just stumbled upon it on eBay. does anyone know what it really is? experience? good or bad?
no trace of it on http://www.terratec.net, so I guess is discontinued. looks like it's been sold online for >500€, though.
I don't understand if it has a built-in DSP board, or it's just a master keyboard by default. sounds a little bit too expensive for a simple master keyboard.
it has 2 separate aftertouch zones for left and right hands, but I don't know how it's implemented in MIDI (2 channel pressures or polyphonic AT?).
thanks for any info.
cheers,
Aldo

Sometimes i really wonder where and how you find these threads you necro-butcher after 7 years, to speculate about a product, which probably never came out, from a brand which ceased to exist ages ago.
Area 61 is a great name though. Wished the Terratec Producer line lived a bit longer, also to make Komplexer more bug free, and support later OS's, and 64-bit.

It was a nice looking KB though imo. Liked the large knobs/encoders, seems more practical to have fewer but easily grabable controllers, personally speaking.

I've got 2 of these puppies and very happy about it..
very robust chassis and keyboard with lots of control possibilities.
But the best thing about it; it offers an audio interface so that you don't have to depend on your crappy sound card or Realtek audio when using as a controller for VST instruments! It also apparently has a slot for it's own sound card / font generator which would essentially allow it to be a standalone synth, but I'm not sure how available (if) that card even is.. At any rate, a lovely controller for anyone focused on VST in a more compact setup - excellent keybed feel and lots of cool control. An absolute treasure as it never got by the prototype stage, and so, a limited production, yet completely usable.
