damn you KvR :x everyone says "look what I got" but do we care about others? Noooooooooooooooooooo :hihi:

Seriously, the takes sound very nice Scott, the options for pup selection is awesome. People confuse my dislike for Gibsons with a dislike of epi's...not true. A les paul strat is the best of both words, it looks and sounds to me like that's exactly what you have...congrats, I look forward to hearing more :tu:

How about a Les Paul Tele?

Premier Guitar did an amazing write up on it:

All that for an American guitar that I believe is selling for $1399. I hope it's received well, Gibson did a great job.

What does that article refer to when it says this guitar has tappable P-90's? what does that mean?

How do you tap a single coil?

I would guess you'd take the current out closer to the inside of the coil, where there are fewer windings. Seems kind of.. odd.. though. Choose "thin" or "phat" single coil sounds? :? :?

Tap to point with less windings, the duncan 1/4 pounder also can be purchased with a tap

well as I was talking about the pup selection it's apples and oranges, if one wants a a les paul tele then I guess this would be a good choice. Not for me though, because once again...I'm not paying for six letters on the headstock.

I've never been a fan of Gibson necks.. they just feel awkward to me. Don't know why.. it's odd. :?

Does look like an interesting guitar, though. 8)

I'm still thinking about a brass tone block replacement. Not sure I want to go through the modding process yet though.......here's what one guy did:

Tapping simply means that you interrupt the winds somewhere around the coil. While the most common form of tapping is between the first and second coils of a double-coil pickup to split, it can also be done in a single coil to use less winds.

In this case, tapping the pickups gives you the choice between a P-90 and a Tele sound, two very cool options!

$1,399 is a good price for an American-made guitar, regardless of what name is on the headstock. Gibson did a great job of fulfilling the needs of country musicians and I think they should be applauded for doing so.

Seems there might be a bit more to them than simply the 6 letters on the headstock.

But, what a glorious 6 letters those are!

I did it and wish I hadn't, it was a bit of a hassle and I never got the guitar back together again. With that said, if you're good at and like working on and intonating locking trems, you'll likely have a better experience than I did.

Hun. Strange. Other than the the hassle of taking the springs/trem out it looks straight forward. Very worried about the springs staying in though. But this one prestige I have is pretty good sustain wise (and the breed bridge and fred neck is a FAB combo) but I want more.
