I guess it's ok to post this now:
Got it for just over 300 USD. Why this one? The neck Took me a couple of hours of polishing the fret ends but it's like a glove. Sound is ok, but ordered these:
http://nordstrandpickups.com/products/mm5-2/
and
http://nordstrandpickups.com/products/2b-mm-preamp/
Here is a vid showing the before and after tone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i9FpKqnuD8
Haven't found any cracks in the neck or defects......YET

Be sure to wire up a 3 way switch (series, parallel, single coil) to get the most out of that pickup. Not sure why Leo Fender chose parallel as the default for StingRay pickups, series has a lot more going on.

I've thought about that but the wiring is "pre" made for the cut outs in this bass specifically.Winstontaneous wrote:Be sure to wire up a 3 way switch (series, parallel, single coil) to get the most out of that pickup. And thanks @ well wishes to the others

And, if your soldering is up to it, not too difficult to make for the bass of your choice (or put it into a pedal)
The guitar version (from the Sabre) is similar:

Well, I didn't want anything that wasn't made to fit this bass (i.e., drilling holes)Xiangqi wrote:ooh... 3 knobs... lots of possibilities...
So, volume/bass/treble was what it was made for.

Ack, sorry, I'm always signed in on FSB so I didn't know it's all registration now. I'll have to get one of those image account things. This work?

Yeah thanks!
I gotta get into guitar electronics,
it's simple at the start level, so seems a neat way to get into electronics
I just wired an active 13-pin hexaphonic pup, and made it passive 7-pin
