Factory reset - hold multi and single buttons down while powering on.
he'll loose his 1 preset if he saved it to the synth, soft reset is better!

Ok, I'd appreciate a little help here.

I'm trying to make a sound that is very close to a flute. I'm quite green with synths and all (i'm more a traditional instrument guy) and I've read a couple tutorials on the net (namely the soundonsound one here: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct03/a ... ecrets.htm) where it says that i use a square waveform etc. But i can't "translate" this tutorial to the venom hardware. How can I emulate this sound? Or something similar woodwind-like sound? I'm not going for realistic here. But i'd like to get as close as possible.

Any help appreciated.

VenomEd's effects control should definitely work. But I did notice few oddities when i was testing it before the beta release. Reverb pre-delay doesn't seem to work. I'll need to see if it's a controller issue or a hw-issue. Just wanted to say if someones wondering about it.

I'll try to get the last remaining controls mapped out next week.. and start on the Multi editor :)

For a flute sound: Square should be fine, just add some pitch modulation with an lfo and turn the filter down a bit.

i did a hard reset on the Venom. Saved my patches (.txt) first of course. Seems all the banks are in the Venom, but only Bank A and the few sounds i made are in VenomEd :?

So basically VenomEd is not seeing those banks, or they have been over-written somehow?

This is because it is beta(i.e. unfinished), I only see full bank A presets and 1 bank b preset currently(001). My Bank C/D are empty on Venom'ed patch display!

Tried loading these in Vyzex but the dont even show up in the folder after clicking on 'open' to select a file

i know its beta, but i only ready about multis not being there and sysex recieve? oh well, thats ok then. Bank D has only my sounds listed in VenoEd, which is fine.

Thanks i'm getting there. At least the high notes start to sound close. I've turned off everything and I have the square and the filter with cutoff at 6k. Also i have the ADSR in place with A=19ms and R=260ms and it sounds good. But, it has this very metallic tone in it. My flute sounds more "hollow" - i don't know how to describe it - I guess it has many more harmonics there. I've played with the cutoff freq but it doesn't change things much. Is it good to add another oscillator to the mix to add this "hollowness"? Add something like ring modulation?

I'm doing this just as an excercise to sound design. I hope I'll learn something from you guys. THanks.

At this stage of VenomEd, yeah, it doesn't read the other banks unfortunately. Hopefully we get a fix soon. The Venom implementation of Aux1 and Aux2 fx is weird too. Have to go to several places to get fx sounding right. They aren't bad 'cept for reverb which just needs a little moderation exercised.

I find the modulation matrix confusing too, but then I find most modulation matrices confusing. The Max for Live VenomControl plugin comes with individual banks A - D in text files as well as GStorm presets, Morph-A presets, RB presets , and Vcom presets all in text files. Forgot what I paid for VenomControl, but it was reasonable too. VenomEd's GUI is much much nicer to look at and isn't stuck with Live for the host you have to use, but the presets in VenomControl are pretty cool. I like the GStorm presets although there are only 46 presets, they are done well. I think I need to buy Patch Adamz presets. Maybe soon I will. I love the audio demos of his patches and shows off some other capabilities of Venom.

Ah ha, I see why just bank A shows up. These are the individual patches in text file. The banks B - D have not been converted yet.

Tedious to save off each individual and probably time consuming. I'm sure it will happen eventually.

They wont transfer unfortunately from VenomControl. Different format.

I see now. You can populate the banks yourself by having established communication to VenomEd and manually switching to bank you want to save the presets and letting VenomEd update the controls, then hit save. It will ask where you want to save and just save in bank folder the corresponds with correct bank you are saving. Text file will already be named the same as the patch after Venom updates via USB midi as you change the preset or banks by Venom controls.

Do individually for all presets and you will populate all 4 banks easy enough. Same with organizing by category. MKDR has laid out the folders already. We just need to save under category also. I suspect an hour or two going through individual presets and saving in bank folder, then second save in category would have everything nice and populated.

if it a long tedious job, why dont each of you agree on one banks to port and then trade files?
