What do you think about it? Never heard of this terrasoniq brand...

I'm looking for a usb powered tabletop audio interface and this looks good... any advice?

Terrasoniq is simply the rebranding of Terratec....they've been around for a looonnng time, I use several Terratec EWS88MT's. They've served me better than any other interfaces I've owned.....and I've owned MANY different brands and models.

didn't know it... of course I know Terratek!
I've found this on the Musonik website old news (www.musonik.com):

"Press Release
MUSONIK terminates distribution of TerraTec Producer
Düsseldorf, 12.06.2009. With immediate effect MUSONIK GmbH terminates the distribution of all products developed by TerraTec Electronic GmbH under the label of Terra Producer. New products will be developed by MUSONIK themselves under the label of Terrasoniq.Terrasoniq's first product will be the Phase X64 USB, which is expected to hit the market end of this year."

and then:

"Musonik presents Terrasoniq Phase X64!
Musonik starts shipping the first own developed USB 2.0 High Speed Audio System. The PHASE X64 USB replaces the legendary PHASE 26 USB Interface and continues the PHASE Series in new Generation."

Will the phase 64 have the same quality of Terratec products?

I would say definitely YES!! The TS88 which is the replacement for the Phase88 which, in turn was the replacement for the the EWS88MT appears to be virtually identical to its predecessors. It must be close...just YESTERDAY I did a new install of one of my EWS88MT's.....I used the TS88's drivers AND control panel and they work perfectly!

For what is worth I've got their Midi interface the Midi One and it's the best interface on the market.

Cheapish at 23 euros but has only one Din out that autodetects midi in or out so I've got two.

I am totally pleased with the easy install and the lowest latency I've ever encountered with midi on a PC.

I'll grab a PHASE X64 also and see how it goes.

All the best

As a longtime Terratec/Terratec Producer/Musonik/Terrasonic user, I'm actually a bit on the edge.

I recently switched out my beloved EWS88MT (yes, it's up for sale!) for a RME HDSPe/Digiface solution. Cost me a fortune, but I'll never look back.

Why? It's the drivers for the Terra...something.
Oh don't worry, they're stable, they are rock solid, you get low latency (at least with the PCI/Breakout Box solutions), you can easily cascade them for a multitrack array.

But they're discontinued! No Windows 7, no 64bit, and finding them now through the official channels is like a needle in the haystack. I gave up after 2 hours of searching and decided "now it's time for a switch".

While this might not yet be the case with the X64, I'd still keep my eyes open. Terratec is known to ditch their brand, or change divisions (sections bought up, new name, new logo, etc). And this since Turtlebeach times.

If you're on an old rig, you're fine (with the EWS series), if you're a tinkerer, maybe even in newer OSes. But I'd stay sharp on that end. I rather recommend you different devices (like MBox 2, they should go cheap second hand), or with two eyes closed, blindfolded and your corns plastered a M-Audio device (I've always had trouble with them).

But please, think about it twice if you want to go for Terratec/Terrasonic/Musonik or... however it is called now. At least on the long run.

If it's a short solution for the time being - go ahead. Some of the best AD/DA I know on the budget side.

Really? Took me all of about ten seconds to find these:

I always had trouble finding the drivers on their page, just checked again, they sorted things on their FTP(!) and apparently, I was always looking for the EWS rather than the "TS" drivers (which are the same, only updated - stupid me).

Then again, I switched.
Let's just hope the x64 doesn't die as the "rest" of the series.

Glad you were able to get it sorted Compy! :D Yeah, it's always been that way.
Terratec's FTP was always easier to navigate than their website. If my EWS became obsolete tomorrow I'd be sad...but I really wouldn't have too much to complain about. I mean REALLY I've NEVER bought a piece of computer related hardware OR software that's served me so well for so long! 8)

Had the Terratec Phase X24 FW FireWire interface, working flawlessly under XP, but never got it running on the same PC under Win7. Perhaps due to the Win7 support of the FireWire chipset.
Als the Terrasonic USB interface is now quite cheap, and seems to have Win7 drivers, is it any good? Any experiences or comments.?

Hi guys

Came across your discussion on a search and am hoping someone can help - I recently acquired a phase x64 and I can't get hold of the driver for it.

I've gone to their FTP but can't access it - it says it's forbidden.

Can anyone help at all? Would be much appreciated

Thanks

The musonik/terrasoniq ftp (ftp://ftp.musonik.com/downloads (ftp://ftp.musonik.com/downloads) or 213.239.216.148:21 ) seems to be poorly maintained and has been returning a 403 or "auth required" message for several weeks now.

The drivers that ship with recently purchased units seem to be v2.8.x.
A quick web search yielded drivers claiming to be 2.9.34 (dated circa Dec 2012)
from the following 3rd party servers:

http://www.driverscape.com/download/pha ... usb-2.9.34 (http://www.driverscape.com/download/phase-x64-usb-2.9.34)
or, alternatively:

Disclaimer: I have not tested those drivers myself. I am not affiliated with any of those alt servers. The links are merely provided in case they are of help to anybody finding themselves stuck with the official musonik site.

I've also been having latency problems on my windows 7 64bit with my new Phase X64 USB (crackling, pops and whatnot). And, as others on this topic, been banging my nose at the Musonik/Terrasoniq ftp server door for weeks, with no reply to my emails (I might not send my product back because it is good hardware, but definitely will not recommend any Terrasoniq/Musonik/Terratec... for the nonexistent client support).

I tried the driverscape link. It installs the driver update utility, and doesn't update the phaser 2.8.x drivers (didn't work for me)
The soundcat-pro link did download a zip file and its contents look like the driver folder that came with the product and it went through my company's internet protection arsenal. So I will install it later today when i get home, and get back to you.

 Thanks tsilderikov it does work  My computers latency is definitely lower, no more crackling or popping, video playing and streaming also works fine! :D

You can use the soundcat-pro link, the website is in Korean but you don't need to know Korean to see a link. Anyway we should share this somewhere else.

Driver version is now 2.9.34
Firmware version: 1.0.1 (k2)
