Aside from a couple of seconds near the beginning of that video, I still have seen precious few examples of actually playing chords and having those translated to synth sounds. Let's hear some piano chords and see how well this thing actually works without hex pickups.

I don't think midi note on, note off info to external synths

First impressions:
He's got nice clean right hand technique. I wonder how it would be with your average sloppy joe player.
It looks cool. He's a slick guy but if I was listening to someone playing the same notes on a keyboard synth, I don't think I'd be overly impressed.

Yeah, did you actually watch that video? His idea of polyphony seems to be monophonic synth leads. What a joke!stroker_ace wrote:"Demo of polyphony......"?deastman wrote:Aside from a couple of seconds near the beginning of that video, I still have seen precious few examples of actually playing chords and having those translated to synth sounds. yep,
all mono playing in the poly demo.
I did watch it, just didn't comment for some reason.
So.... can has demo?!
I still like the idea of 6 SYBs hehe

There is some encouraging news, though: Music Radar got their mitts on it, and said this......
"Even scrolling through the unit's 70 presets, we were floored. The tracking was dead-on for chords and single notes alike, and latency impressively minimal"

Music Radar has never steered me wrong; they're straight shooters, imo. But I'm still going to have to hear it before I believe it.

Yeah, the frustrating thing is that even if it's only mono, it's still probably going to do wonderful things to a bass.nix808 wrote:yep,

In addition to a true poly demo, we need a bass demo.
BOSS is really bungling this debut, imo.

@7:15 some chords are played. it tracks well. the chords are plucked.

The dude from BOSS is totally annoying, imo. He can't just sit still and let notes and chords ring out. Even with the few chords he plays, he feels compelled to sweep the filter.
They need someone who knows guitars and synths to demo this pedal.

Precisely. Its like he doesn't understand that the whole selling point is the ability to play chords!stroker_ace wrote:They need someone who knows guitars and synths to demo this pedal.
Also, I'm sorry, but his choice of synth sounds is just plain awful. And can we have a little bit more Axel F and Bon Jovi please? I hear the kids love that...

I guess all of BOSS/Roland's synth guys are busy with the JD-XA and the new modular stuff.deastman wrote:Precisely. Its like he doesn't understand that the whole selling point is the ability to play chords!stroker_ace wrote:They need someone who knows guitars and synths to demo this pedal.

For such a potentially revolutionary product, the presentation of the SY-300 has been terrible and amateurish. They're almost treating it like an afterthought, entrusting the job to that Hutchins dude.
I must have watched over 20 minutes of SY-300 demos, and all I really know about it is that it can make a bunch of sounds I have no interest in.
We've just got to wait for it to wind up in the right hands. Richard Beech from Sonic State, the ProGuitarShop dude, and the Music Radar crew would be a great start.

It looks cool, as far as bass, it would be the first model without latency. The SYB was really slow.
