Hello all,
I want to play multiple instruments into a loop pedal (Boss RC-30) and I've been searching for the best live setup. One that is often mentioned is plugging all the instruments to a mixer with the main outs going to the PA and having the loop pedal on the aux send and then feeding the loop pedal output back into the mixer.
I would like to understand what's the difference between this and simply having all the instruments plugged into the mixer with the main outs into the loop pedal and then the pedal output into the PA? I'm I saying something terribly wrong?
And by the way, which do you think would be the best setup for this purpose?
Thanks in advance for you help.
Cheers!

Recommended is the usual way: effects via send and return on either aux in or dedicated mixer channel. This provides flexibility, and you get the direct instrument output, best quality.
Your proposed way is somewhat naieve but not wrong. You placed the effect in the very center, no way to skip it. Probably a bit less audio quality.

We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
