I regret selling both of my Steinberger XQ basses. Probably should have kept one of them. About as close as you'll get to the sound of an L or XL without having an L/XL and the XQ's go for a lot more now than I paid for them.
That Waldorf Microwave 1 I paid $500 for a few years back. Yeah, should've held onto that. You sure won't touch one for that now.

Of all the synths I owned in my life I only regret selling my Juno 60. I should have kept it but I was young and needed money to buy new synths. When I sold it in the early 90's I got like US$400 because it was not a valued synth at the time.

Brand new Jomox Airbase99. Got the last one from audiomidi.com and sold it for about the same price. Wish I would've kept it.

I've been thinking about these things recently as I've had a minor windfall as of recent. Back in the 90's I had a Samick Custom Pro
Not a Valley Arts, Not a Valley Arts Samick and not a Greg Bennet.
This one
I loved that thing when I had it. It was stolen the same night as my LP Custom, Traynor YBA and other assorted gear.
So it's up for sale on reverb right now.. I read in the details that there is a stress crack in the neck pocket and with shipping it really isn't worth it to me. Especially as I'm more interested in a Charvel Pro Mod and for a few more I could get that.
I'm trying to dress up my studio for video right now. I'd rather have all that done before I go further into regular gear.

I sold my year old black and orange ARP 2600 to someone for $1,000 back in 1981.
I had it custom modded with oscillator sync too.
I also sold a mint Minimoog about that same time for $650.

happened to me with an ARP 2600 bought for 1000 DM, sold for 3000 DM, but hey should have starved to death instead...jacqueslacouth wrote:Yeh, Back in the day at times, money got real tight and I sold off gear to get through those periods, always with the intent of buying it again when I had the money.
Unfortunately, now that I do have the money, some things I never see, and some....well, I'm not stupid enough to pay the prices asked.
(Still don't have the money, so all these plugs which remind me of old times come in great...)
That is one I sold but did not regret, though I'd like to have a free plug-in of it... I did love it when I was playing it. It could do things the more expensive (complete) synths could not do...foosnark wrote:Believe it or not, a Poly-800 was one of those.

I regret selling my tr 909. Although I wouldn't want it anymore at this time... but I do wish I sold it for more than I did...

I regret selling my Virus B desktop....for the $425 I payed....such a steal. I regret selling my DSI MEK....so many knobs, what a fun synthesizer! I’ve sold tons of other stuff, but don’t miss it.

Yep... absolutely regret selling some stuff. Was burned out and bored of music at the time, so gear was just sitting, taking up space and I was getting into other hobbies. Felt right at the time, but fast forward some years and I wouldn't have made the same decision now.
Absolutely regret:
Alesis Andromeda A6
SE ATC-X
SH-101
JoMox xbase 09
Mostly regret:
Waldorf Microwave
Novation Supernova
Kinda regret:
Emu e6400 XT
Access Virus B
Granted, all this was when soft synths were in their infancy or at least early years and nothing like today. The past 10 years have incredibly evolved plugins to where hardware is nice but not nearly any requirement.
Andromeda... don't even get me started... FML. Same with the ATC-X, but I really wasn't into the interface at the time, but editors would solve that now. SH-101... laughable (or cryable) what I sold it for in 1996 -- didn't appreciate it at all in those days. Few kicks sound like the xbase.
The e6400 would be a big pain at this point and honestly easily surpassed by any number of soft samplers, but man those filters were awesome. Probably just nostalgic for it. Virus B and Supernova were workhorses at the time. Microwave had character and was way different than anything else I had.
Loads of other stuff that I couldn't care less about though. Bought, sold and traded stuff constantly in the 90's and early 2000's chasing sounds.
