(edit - I am using the iPad version)
I would love to assign midi notes to slices (and to hits in the drum synth), then be able to export my sequences as midi files. I don't even need velocity, I could do that offline.
For me Egoist fits the bill as a progressive rock drum composer, because I can so easily change up the beats in any time signature and assemble parts consisting of patterns with different time sigs. A prog rock rhythm sketch pad. I just load up an audio file of kick & snare hits (yep, that's all), get steady hats from the drum synth, and Slicer does the rest. Instant prog rock drum patterns.
It would be so great to get the midi version of what I'm hearing.

Yes, the whole exporting side is the weak part of Egoist. I end up bouncing material and using it, rather than letting Egoist take care of the export, MIDI, raw audio and so on. Same with import, would be nice if Egoist could just read a region as a sample.

I am using the iOS version stand-alone, the audio export via Audioshare is working well for me. I don't even mess with DAWs on iOS.
I have a whole other workflow for this on OS X.
