Many problems with AirRack in Windows 8

I love the idea and appearance of AirRack, but it is not working on Windows 8:

When I load a vst, it makes no sound. The correct audio drivers are loaded and the correct midi source. If I press a key, the midi indicator responds, but no sound comes out. I'm using a Zoom 24 external sound card.

It crashes when I try to load the 32 bit version of Addictive Keys.

Once it crashes, it stays alive but hidden. If I go into Task Manager, I cannot end the process.

Looks great and has many things that I like--the EQ, the amp, the recorder, the look and feel. But...

Looking at another post in this forum, I see that AirRack is no longer being supported. That's too bad. I really like the look and feel of this little program.
