Nice work, and basically a good idea, unfortunately there is no way we could change the graphics to show those values.

Also I think, it would be a good idea to separate the VU from the peak meter.
In a way, they cannot cross each other visually.

We are nearly there, nearly finished.

Thank you very much,
René

As former VU circuit needs high cpu usage,I uploaded new one.
http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=dl&id=1000
It doesn't look so cool, but needs lower cpu usage.
Have fun!

Thank you very much, this is very nice.
Also funny because, I just made one VU nearly the same way,
but your solution is much better and more elegant!

I still try to find out how to make peak-hold,
so far without success...

I am still on the graphics and I found a few new cool things
will show you soon.

Cheers,
Rene

I uploaded new one.Now it takes some peak-hold-like movement.
http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=dl&id=1003
I did it by increasing/resetting release time of enveloper.

And:
As my former compressor circuits were noisy in short attack/release time(because of its linear compressing algorithm),I uploaded new one.
http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=dl&id=1004
It takes log(dB) compressing algorithm. Maybe it's normal and correct.
And also I added in/out/comp meter.

sorry for the delay, the Internet went off just after I had downloaded your two files.

So I was playing around with it Quite a lot.

I like your new compressor very much and I was trying to understand
what your formula does.
But I am pretty bad in math...
I think this approach is very cool.

The peak hold on the other side is not quite there yet.
It should reset and update itself after a few seconds.
Before you sent this one I had tried a similar approach again,
with not much luck.

I will send you my modification of your compressor soon.
It is really getting better and better and sounding much more interesting.

Thank you again for all your great input and help.

Cheers,
René

I uploaded a new one.
I changed input mix method from {env(L)+env(R)}/2 to sqrt(L^2+R^2)/sqrt(2) to keep stereo image.
And I added the soft knee function.
Please see test circuits included.

This one is by far your best compressor!
I still doubled the envelope
which is giving a smoother and better balanced compression.

I am wondering, if it is possible to make a brick wall limiter the same way?
The first one that you made is using much too much CPU.

Also I still hadn't achieved a suitable input gain control.
Something is just wrong whatever I do.
This is needed for the pregain, not only to give it more punch after the input, but also to maximize the output level just before the limiter.

The sound is getting closer and closer to what I had in mind.
You've done a great job!

Cheers,
René

P..S. I am sorry for the delay, I was sick over the last few days.

I've made some very stupid mistakes by trying to create the gain control.
Now it is working exactly the way it should be.
It was just two cables connected the wrong way in the program and in my brain.

But still, there is the problem with the limiter.
I modified the compressor so it would act like a limiter,
but it just does not sound or act in a good way and stil
the peaks are passing through...
Try to play the drum file, then you will see the signal shoot way over 0db
on one part.
I really think a different approach for the limiter would get better results.
but I don't know how to do it...
