How to speed up the support process
This forum is regularly patrolled by both FXpansion staff, and helpful fellow users who are generous with their time. The people that provide support, like our userbase, are spread across several timezones (they also occasionally sleep and have weekends). These factors can slow down the rate at which you get the help you need to get everying working, as we may not be online when you are. There are some things you can do to reduce the number of KvR postings required to sort out a problem.
If you are experiencing difficulties with an FXpansion product, please include the following information in your posting:
* Which FX Product you need assistance with, and the exact verson you have installed ("I have the latest version" is not good enough - check what the interface says!)
* Operating System (Mac / Win) and version (more especially users of MacOSX)
* For performance related queries: CPU type, number & speed; amount of RAM; and for BFD performance related queries, what sort of hard disk (SATA? IDE? Firewire?) you have your BFD Data installed on.
* Which Host Sequencer do you use (Cubase, Protools, Logic, SONAR, DP, etc...), and what version?
Of course, make sure you are familiar with the product's manual; also read the FAQ for that product on our website.
Posting in the right place
Please try to post your questions and comments in the right place!
If you see someone starting a thread about some issue with a product, and you also have an issue with the product, but a *different* issue, it may be better to start your own topic to attract the correct expert's attention, and to stop the original thread being confused with two overlapping strains of problem solving. However, it definitely ok to post all bug and issues for a product in the "Bugs & Discussion" thread for that product - it helps the developers to have a single place to look.
Check Meta threads: Due to proliferation of topics for some of the product lines, in particular BFD, we have had to create "Meta Sticky" threads, which are sticky threads with an index of other KvR threads about the various aspects of, say, BFD. Otherwise we would have an explosion of sticky threads.
Nettiquette
Whilst FX are a broad-minded bunch, abusive and/or 'salty' language will not be tolerated for a variety of reasons:
(1) It is against KvR rules and KvR is NOT FXpansion.
(2) It lowers the signal to noise ratio
(3) It stokes the fires of pointless flame-wars.
(4) It can be unmindful of the age or philosophy of other users, and
(5) Is most importantly just not a professional or efficient way to go about getting help.
You are most free to dis our posse, if and when needed, in a technically accurate and succinct way, and we will take it on the chin if correct, or prolong the dialectic by composing an equally measured reply.
Thankin' y'all kindly. (See, I brought sumpin back from Austin!)
