Cantabile crashes on startup scanning vst folders

Has anybody experienced this issue?
Cantabile has been working OK and I have been able to shutdown and startup without problems. Then, it starts crashing on startup whilst scanning VST folders. I tried editing the the ini file and removing the vst folders one by one to see if I could determine which was the one causing problems. Made no difference. I couldn't produce a log file because as soon as the crash occurred the laptop rebooted. Mini dumps have been created.
Tried several things and then edited the ini file and changed vstQuickScanOnStartup to 0. This did the trick and it loaded OK and worked.
