Updating from V6 to 8.05 - are the plugins still found?

Hi,
I just bought some plugins from your actual "Eternal Madness"-season and I love them! Great tools!
I know and use your plugins since a long time and I'm a person that doesn't like updates (never touch a running system).
Although the V6 I'm using currently of the (free) plugin package is quite outdated and seems to have some technical lacks, so I decided to update it. But...
In the past I've updated from an older version to V6 which caused the problem, that in my (old) projects any Melda Productions plugins were not found any more, although the plugin names were the same.
So I had to re-load any instance of Melda Production plugins and to re-adjust every single setting manually (because it was lost as I just saved it with the song).
This was really painful (and that's the reason why I'm still on V6).
So I'm afraid, that if I update to the V8 version, I'll have the same problem: everytime I'll load a song which used a V6 plugin, the plugin can't be loaded any more.
Can you please tell me, how I can avoid this situation?
When I try to start the V8 installer it tells me that it has to uninstall V6.
And in the V6 (un)installer (which is loaded by the V8 installer) I'm seeing a possibility to upgrade my old V6 to V7. But the upgrade fails with a filename error (I assume the V7 update isn't available any more).
So could you please tell me the procedure to update from V6 to the most actual version without losing the plugins in my old projects?
Btw: I'm using Ableton Live 9 on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.6
Thanks for your help and keep up your good work!

Hi wildcafe,
so, I simply suggest to use the newest installer and ignore there was something before (so even ignore the uninstaller, it doesn't really matter).
Afterwards if the host doesn't find the plugins for your project afterwards, it must be buggy, so please just ask the developer of the host (though please let me know, so I know about this, I didn't know anyone had this problem).

Thanks for your fast reply. I installed now V8 over V6, the uninstall of V6 was aborted (because update failed).
So I have now 2 folders in the ppplications directory.
I loaded a project where I used a V6 plugin and it switched seamlessly to the new V8-version. So it seems to work!
How can I get rid now of old files from the V6 version? What about the folder "MFreeEffectsBundle 6" in applications directory? Just delete it?

Very well . And yes, please just delete it, there's nothing important there.
