What are the best parameters to set up a funk guitar?

Hi. I'm looking for the best way to set up parameters for a funk guitar sound, so the chords flow smoothly into each other without feeling choppy, or without a lot of pick clicking noise? I do all my guitar playing by inputting notes on a piano roll. Would there be any advantages to putting wider spacing between notes or not?
