The fellow who designed and built my massive modular synthesizer recently released a clone of the Moog 960 sequencer, made famous by Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Heldon. My 960 module (and ancilliary 961 and 962) arrived last week, and I was immediately inspired to do an improvisational thing with it. It's very much inspired by the artists mentioned above. Here's the link:

All of the rhythmic bits are tracked live from the modular in one pass (including the noise sweep things). This was a single patch on the modular. I manipulated the sequencer in realtime, changing the sequence length, rearanging the patterns, etc.

Further instrumentation included:

MTron: Boys Choir (with Kjaerhus Classic Chorus and Classic Delay)

Vertigo: (detuned pads)

Both of these were played using the Muse Receptor.

Also heard were a Yamaha CS60, Roland JD-800 and a sample of dear ol' vurt's voice being treated with Kyma in realtime.

It was tracked in Cubase SX on my Mac.

Hopefully, Har will add some of his dilithium-powered guitars to this in the near future...

Thanks guys! Tim, I'll post a pic of the system with the new sequencer as soon as I can...believe it or not, my dog ate the cable that connects my camera to the computer! He left only the connections, but chewed up and swallowed the cable itself! Yikes!

vurt, you can't imagine how often I use your voice as my "audition sample" for messing about in Kyma... :hihi:

Big modular . . . and Kyma :bang:
You lu'y, lu'y bastard!

So, that would be the synthsizers.com modular? I used to make music geek porn by downloading the pics of each module, then collaging them together into the various system configurations I was designing. I'd even build fake cabinets around the combined synth using the picture tubes in Paint Shop Pro.

I know . . . I have no life.

Oh, I'll give this a listen on Monday when I have broadband access (at work).

Yep, it's a Dotcom. I don't have a current pic (all full up, and with the 960, too), but one that I have posted too many times can be found at the bottom of this page: http://www.olscratchrecordings.com/prayercapsule.htm

It's a monster, with five rows and over 70 modules. It nearly touches the ceiling in my studio.

Very good track Scott, got to love that sequencing sound. I love the way it evolves and the atmosphere you have created behind the seq fits perfectly weaving in and around and through. Now you have to post some pics. Let us see why we are so jealous. 8)

Thanks, Soniccat! While I haven't got a new pic, you know danged well that it takes little prodding for me to whip out the old one (groans from the folks who have seen it once too often):

Go on, lick the screen! You know you want to! :hihi:

Now those blanks in the middle are gone, and many modules have been replaced with others. I have a bunch in the closet, but no room for them in the cabinets...

had a listen

Nice sequencer work..how many stage is that?..so it sounds like you are aDDING STAGES BY HAND ( PRE-PROGRAMMED OF COURSE) ( opps capps off..sorry) and also adjusting the delay time. is the delay a module, or on your board?

On receptor, I set up something very similear..I used an SE Sequencer ( can't remeber which one..a freebie) and have that on a channel, and then bring it in and out of the mix, while playing other synths and vocal/mellotron stuff

I ain't licking my screen . . . don't want to get those jacks wet!

Ayway, I make it a habit never to lick anything in a room with purple plush carpet on the walls and ceiling  :-o

BTW . . . is that an ARP Omni to the lower left?
