people are often talking about glitch music. i know what it is, but don't know who to listen to. who should i listen to to hear "classic" glitch (if there is such a thing with a young genre)?

Alva Noto is probably one of the purest and most interesting exponents. His albums Transform and Prototypes (both available on emusic.com) are both essential listnening.
