Hi guys,
long time no post here but inspiration was at limit down lately.
However inspired by Spe3d's excellent acoustic kit (thanx for that Peter) and some very ... erm inspirational entries by the usual or not so usual suspects I made this little abstract-dark piece. It's around 6 mins (8MB in 192 Kbps, 5.4MB in 128 Kbps).
This one is different of what I usually do so I'd appreciate some comments

PS first who guesses the relation of the title with some musical element of this track wins ... my appreciation

OK a small bump or two didn't hurt anybody, right?
But lets make it useful giving some gear details:

Made with Tracktion 1.6
Bassline: Farbrausch + Frohmage + various FX
Noises: a)some recordings with my Shure beta57 + xhip effects b) guitar+slide+simulanalog+ retrodelay c)slowed down+pitched+f****d up voice sample
Drum loop: made with sfz loaded with Spe3d's acoustic kit1+W1 limiter+Glacesoft reverb

It's quite cool. Now, I'm gonna be honest and say I don't really like the sound of spe3d's drumkit, but I think you put it to excellent, hypnotic use here, and it takes the song from something that sounds dark ambient into a really unique kind of piece.

Cool track zeoy... nice mix of dark ambient and groove in it :D

Thanx for listening. Glad that even you didn't like the sound of the kit (IMHO it's got great character) it worked for you.

Very nice, this.
I like Dij at the best of times and you've put it to good use here. (At least, it sounds like a dij.) :)
Some nice incidental sounds in there as well, like little creatures running around inside my head.
The percussion's nice and laid back and slightly jazzy in it's looseness.
The slowly evolving space pad sounds good and the track keeps throwing odd little fx surprises at me.

Nicely produced as well. The seperation works really well. :D
I've listened a few times now and still keep picking up on new sounds. :)

Dijeridoo. :)

I thought the 9/8 timing was a bit too obvious so it couldn't possibly have been that! Ah well. Guess I don't get the prize then. :hihi:

I don't think it's in 9/8 :P , I hear a mixed meter 4/4 and 5/4. Do I get a prize for hearing something different? :hyper:

Post

Yes but 4/4+5/4=9/4. Now for 9/4 vs. 9/8 the difference is what you count as a beat. In fact this rythm (with slighly altered accents and usually a bit faster) is very popular in folk Greek music and we all call it 9/8. It's called "zeimbekiko" and its faster cousin is called "kasirlamas". Both originated in Turkey I suppose.
Maybe Tuz has something to add ...
