Used Garritan Jazz and Big Band library for horns and Kontakt 2's library for rhythm section.

Nicely composed and arranged Rich.
I didn't like the sound of the multiple horn blasts, but everything else worked out well i think.
The solo sax just wasn't doing it well enough for me to except.

Are you a horn player by chance?
....................Don`t blame me for 'The Roots', I just live here. :x

Latin big band style? You're joking right? Because you have some congas going in the back ground does not make a piece latin, neither do some cheap sounding horns make it big band. You need to go back and listen to Mario Bauza or Machito or Perez Prado. This tune is pure daytime tv what are we cooking today foolishness. The only good part of this piece ran from 1:00-32, your piano solo. Now that was cool.

Ciao!

Hm. It's one of those samba-like rhythms. Sounds latin to me. Ok, it's the sort of latin that non-latino American bands do, but latin enough for me. And quite a pleasant piece of music.

It sounded pretty nice in several places. Now, those high trumpet notes come out sounding really synthetic, and the solo sax is not that great, but in the ensembles I liked it.

Victor.

Sorry, should have specified North American commercialism latin big band... :hihi:

Just didn't know what else to call it. Big band pop I guess might have been more accurate, but you know, that bossa kinda bassline and stuff. Your reaction reminded me of a story I heard from one of my saxophone friends who did the cruise ship thing. He was an amazing player, but was completely blasted for not improvising authentic latin style solos.

Yeah, guess I need to work on those horns.

Thanks for the honesty. I appreciate that.

As some of the guys already noticed, some trumpets and a sax solo sounds a little synthetic... but if I look pass this shortcomings, I must say this piece has a nice structure. All the instruments work well together, dynamics and everything, ...very nice. It's very hard to do such a piece, so I think, you deserve some praise for this one.
Piano part is beautiful.

All in all, what you need is, some real instruments, as much as possible and this song would be just great.
