justin, no problem with the thread within a thread concept here... seems appropriate given the music.justin3am wrote:This song creates a beautiful, haunting space. You've made 5/4 feel very natural which can be very difficult to do. The abrasive sounds are so compelling, yet don't detract from the underlying melody. Very dynamic as well. Delicious. What do you use for distortion/waveshaping. The final undulating lead sounds reminiscent of Ohmforce filters (Quadfromage, possibly Minimonsta), though my ears do fail me sometimes.
I have a similar track (created largely with Lounge Lizard and TB Triforce) but it seems far less dramatic. I'm embarrassed to post one of my own songs on someone else's thread... but I'll get over it. http://www.soundclick.com/util/download ... 9FB0B82D-8 It's called cascade
Polyslax, I hope this doesn't seem disrespectful. I appreciate you music greatly.

First, thank you for your time and nice comments. This means a lot to me and I really appreciate anyone making the effort to type out their thoughts.
On to the lead sound at the end... tbh, I don't have an intermediate save with the source on that, but from memory I know it was a layer of 2 Kontakt orchestral string patches, one rendered and detuned down an octave and 1 Ultra Analog patch. I also know that the gating on the part was courtesy of Camel Space, but it's very likely that there were other fx used before that. It's possible Quadfrohmage was used and I do like to run audio through Minimonsta as well, so perhaps your ears are telling you the truth!
Now, to cascade. This is a gorgeous track! Wonderful feel, and the detail in the drumming is stunning. If you're not a drummer/percussionist you've got a super feel for it. Nice time elasticity and everything just plays off each other so well. A very impressive track which I'll continue to listen to.
