Scott here, Matt B.'s Bro-in-law:
On the original mix - seems very mid-rangy on the vox and acoustic piano. High mids I would even quantify as 'harsh' - evident on the open hats in particular. Opening piano chords seem 'banged on' when the song begs a more mellow attack on the piano.
Mid-low end is missing some meat.
Remix corrects the mid-range issue somewhat.
