Well I am not a Jazz player but I am trying to learn.
It's a spontaneous "one take" without cleaning up any mistakes:

Here is the backing track from the German Aussen site if somebody wants to give it a spin:

What?........ Nobody?

I think it's cool, I like the samples with the blues, the guitar does a nice job of narrating the song imo....cool ending...very nice tune both from a playing point of view and production side, really good production... :tu:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Ahh... there is someone...
Thanks

cool stuff, the guitar tone is really nice and fit's well with the song. I'd probably throw some delays on the more isolated notes, but I'm a delay whore :P. This is on my list of things to do over the next couple of days.

Watto my man, that is really cool.
I think we should do a better mix (the guitar dominates too much).
Can you send me the piano track?
If so I will remix it.

:tu:

Argh, I was worried you might say that :hihi:

There's actually a low-level buzz in the right-side mic, which you can't notice in the mix (due to the ambient noise), but it might be more noticeable remixed...

Anyway, I'll pm you the link, but if it's unusable, I'll do another take as soon as my piano's been moved back into the studio :)

OK here is the mix with Watto.
It's almost the same but it brings out the piano a little bit and puts it "more in the mix":

Nice! Can't hear the buzz over the, er, other buzzes, so that's great! What did you use on the piano?

:)

Cool vibe, although I hated the ohone RINGING!!! aaahhh, or at least it was too loud, it was grating, normally I like that type of surprise but not this time.. A very minor detail, the ending was cool tho..

I suppose I should only say positive things, but...

1. The song doesn't seem to go anywhere.
2. I am not fond of the guitar tone.
3. I too find the phone over the top.
4. Because of number 1, it seems that the "tape-stop" ending is a bit of a cop-out.

With that said, I thought the city ambience was creative.

Dude, did you read the first post?! It's a backing track ;-)

The buzz is there believe me, but who cares
On the piano there is a little compression and tiny bit of dark plate reverb (to give it a little "room" thingy)

Post

ok first of , geekboy note in your litle book 'a lot of jazz buff's don't go anywhere'
take a II-V-I progression in wathever key... now take 3,4 or more jazz musicians and ket them jamm
result : exactly what you've got here
and you can even put it 2 min's in a microwave (to complete the recipy) you won't get more then that

which doesn't mean I agree with all i've heard, but it's pretty good for a track without any cleaning up. I know a lot of guys who couldn't play this live...
