there she goes the clarity of your voice in the upper register really lends it to such a song.
i know your voice has been likened to sting in other threads, but i wonder if you're familiar with his recent take on John Dowland? i haven't heard it myself (and don't intend to ) but i love dowland's sweet melancoly. it would be interesting to hear a version of "in darkness let me dwell" sung by your good self.
incidently and OT, but how exactly does one make a myspace page into one that lets you upload your own music? is that what they call a "featured artist"? despite trawling everywhere i couldn't find any info.
anyway incredible playing and singing

Thanks mate! I'm not familiar with John Dowland, actually - will have a look
When you first go to myspace, click on the "music" link and then "artist signup". If you've already done that, and you meant how did I use the custom player, the answer is here - http://mygen.co.uk/index.php?page=tutor ... ashplayer1
I can use Flash, so will probably end up making my own player, but this will do for now
Thanks for listening, mate!

dowland's not the usual fare i guess:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dowland
it's just that his songs are magical (think tim buckley 400 years earlier), they're written for lute but the solo piano i'm sure could work:
here's a snippet from the web of the song i mentioned above:
http://www.content.loudeye.com/scripts/ ... cid=600111
and another complete song
http://humanneuro.physiol.umu.se/GW/imp3/IN1412-4.mp3
just a whim of mine though, so don't follow the folly of a wayward fellow as i.
regards

Simon, where has your song "wooden house" gone? I really like that one and I don't have it at my computer at home...

I'm going to have to dig it up - it's havran's tune, and I just sung bvs on it, but it's beautifulstefancrs wrote:Simon, where has your song "wooden house" gone? I really like that one and I don't have it at my computer at home...

I've bumped the original thread, but in case you miss that, here it is:
http://www.simonwatson.com.au/kvr/havra ... th-bvs.mp3
Note that this is havran's composition, and I only sung backing vocals on it

thomekk wrote: Sting attempts Dowland with marginally satisfactory results, though in all fairness the original compositions would most likely have been sung in a variety of settings - many being what might in the present day, be described as 'rough barrelhouse'. None-the-less, those seeking a good introduction to Dowland could do alot worse than start with the fine recordings of the counter-tenor, Alfred Deller. Meanwhile here's Gordon:
