Here is my attempt:

 The river flows

Instruments : voice, flute, guitares, polyiblit, EWQLSO gold (strings + harp), SFZ+ (Scarbee bass), jamstix.
FX: GCO1, voxformer, mda detune, ixoxdelay, voxengo pristince space light, Eqium, voxengo Boogex, specralive, vintage warmer, tls pocket limiter.

I found the lyrics on internet by entering "lyrics prog rock in google". They are from "ASIA".
I hope they are not from a well known song..
I modified them a little.

"You said time would heal all the scars inside,
But hurt seems to grow not die
Can't forget the words you misread that night
I know I was unkind

Sitting here all alone
How I wish I could change the past
Feelings hidden, unshown
Behind the mask

Fallen down, can I pick myself
up from the ground?
Look at the face of this clown
I've tried to hide the tears

Sitting here all alone
How I wish I could change the past
Is there ever a chance?
Still the river flows
Sitting here all alone"

How's this for some prog rock!

http://www.myguitaronline.com/tunes/070 ... untain.mp3

Lingered long in the ancient books
Learned well the lessons there
Found a passageway forgotten
Through the mind to the stratosphere

Found a guide to creation
Holy name revealed inside
And the gates began to open
In my heart in the mountainside

In the ruins of the city
Heard my cries
Shattered and alone
Spirit to rise

I swallowed the mountain

Pondered long eternity
Knelt the angel to the earth
Breathed life within life
Trembling in rebirth

Felt the majestic power
Countless hosts give rise
Of the wheels within wheels
Of the rider in the skies

I used a Dave Smith Instruments Evolver keyboard along with Atmosphere. Friends helped out with bass and drums. (Sorry for the length - I chopped out the long proggy instrumental section I had in mind and truncated the key solo at the end).

Ok, only the second time I've ever participated in a KVR contest, I just couldn't pass up this month's theme, many of you already know this is my favorite genre!

"Overture For Shadows"

http://www.shadowcircusmusic.com/band/0 ... hadows.mp3

Opens with an homage to Steve Hackett and Foxtrot-era Genesis...the main theme explores a "hoedown" type of riff in 7/8, with a grandiose Beethoven ending! And yes, the trickiest part was whittling this down to two minutes!

I used:

'86 Charvel with EMG pickups through N.I. AC30 Combo
Fender Squire Bass
(Above through Studio Electronics VTB1 Preamp)
N.I. B4
MTron
Minimoog V
BFD (I tapped out the drums live)

All recorded on Tracktion 2
Mastered with some GlissEQ and Sonalksis Compression

I've made an homage to the one that means a before/after in last century's music. If he didn't play "prog rock"... :hihi: I bet you all guess the man's name.

http://maxebelga.kara-moon.com/music/07 ... andrix.mp3

Recorded in Logic (my T2 still misses a little something..., maybe a 3) and cut underneath 2min with Oddbods knife.
Classic Reverb and Delay, GlaceVerb, mda Detune, W1 Limiter, CLAS, EXS24 with my sampled drums and MiniJB as plugins.

...I feel I'm forgetting some detail... :-o

Cheers,

Max... .. . :P

PS : BTW in '77 when I played in a band à la Gentle Giant and Yes, people called that "symfonic rock". I admit, "prog rock" sounds cooler. :D

This is my first entry this year, the last one was on autumn 2006.

Anyway i was not even was considered by my mom&dad at the period of '70s, so i don't really know what was going on.

So this tune is what "thought" of '70s would sound like by one who never been there.

All the usual suspects are here: moog solos*, tons of effects, mellotrons and of course an 11/4 part

This one's for my Mum :) GrazieFor11. She ensured I was born in the 70s - just made it by 11 days!
The song hasn't got any 11/4 bits in it, it's got a few other sigs though :D
